Hi i Saw you cutting the cabbage etc. You might check out the catclaw technic of cutting
@7:00 Yes! Clean as you go. Unless you're in the final minutes before serving, there's almost always time in between steps to clean up. Don't save of that work until after the meal unless you're a masochist.
Oh, and as far as prep goes, "Mise en place" is critical. Have all of your ingredients/measurements ready to go before you start cooking.
Love this. It's the philosophy we've adopted in our household over the past few years. Homecooked, no matter how simple and quick, is always superior (and cheaper) than the processed ready-made stuff or paying a fortune at a restaurant for subpar food and equally bad service. Two nights ago, I started dinner late, didn't have anything thawed, and didn't much feel like putting in the effort. So we had breakfast for dinner: sausage, cheesy scrambled eggs and cinnamon waffles. My family LOVED it.
Not only eating out but processed foods.
In 1999, just after my divorce, I bought myself a complete set of Revereware copper induction stainless steel cookware. They are 23 years old and they are still going strong. I will only use my stainless steel cookware or my cast iron.
You can get away with one lb. Of pasta for for family of 6?
Copper pots are not really loved by us gourmet chefs that’s why I have so must cast iron and Dutch ovens
It’s nice to see you you have a nice new Dutch oven I love them I have about 5 they are the best as for fast meals when your a Gardner that the way to go
Buttered toast and fresh tomatoes from the garden!!!! The best sandwich EVER!
That slaw!!! 😋
Red lentils are good with spaghetti sauce as well.
Working these all into my upcoming meal plans! Delicious. Beautiful. Simple.
Outstanding! You are an amazing woman.
what kind of Balsamic Vinegar did you use? I have yet to find a favorite. Great video with 3 delicious ideas!
If you've got hard lemons/limes, and a microwave… if you pop those bad boys in the microwave for 10-20 seconds, they'll loosen up a lot and let you juice them much more easily, and with better yield!
As much as we all love a fancy meal, ones like these are really what sustain us and become our comfort foods. ❤️
Do you dry your own herbs that you’ve grown on your farm or do you purchase them in bulk dried?
Is your cold room like a refrigerated area?
This video was so helpful, as these are the kinds of meals I need to make pretty much every single day. Thank you, Shaye & Stuart! 🙂 P.S. Loved the humorous family interaction at the end! 😉
These are three of my favorite "fast food" meals at home too! We have two teenage boys, so getting a lot of calories on the table every day is really important and can seem exhausting if I overthink it. They eat every meal as if they'd been fasting for a week, so fine dining isn't really on the menu for now LOL. I reserve my creativity for "date night" meals and special occasions.

I'm in the season of life with a child and a toddler, plus I work part-time, so weeknight dinners are usually quick n' dirty. I'm going to try your method of making meat sauce for pasta, I never remember to take my ground beef out of the freezer! I live in hardiness zone 3a so I don't get fresh produce year-round but my summer lettuce is prolific, so we eat a lot of salads topped with either garden-grown or store-bought cucumbers and grape tomatoes with a grilled meat of some kind. I would love to build an outdoor kitchen one day so I wouldn't even have to leave the garden to cook!
What is the cookware you used to bake the fish in?
What is the brand of cookware you used to bake fish for tacos?
“Farm fresh feather on my finger” …. Hah I love it
Love your videos so much 🙂 These meals are true farm food and you made it elegant! Just beautiful!
I adore the green 🌿 of your cabinets.
This is a perfect time for this video for me, as I am going wide open with spring "stuff" and stressing that dinner has been a pretty thrown together affair, often later than is ideal, and I've been struggling with the idea that the whole point of the garden and the chickens and the beef cows and the milk cow…. Is to have good food for us. So thank you for the reminder that good can still be simple and quick and doesn't necessarily mean perfect.
Can you please tell me what brand your stove is❓& I don’t notice a hood vent – is it vented for the stove top❓
I think it would be nice to say what three dishes you were cooking. At beginning you were going on and on saying nothing. I lost interest and moved on
I enjoyed your video! Great homemade meals and absolutely better than restaurant!
Thanks for the reminder to try and tidy as you go- I am so guilty of “wasting” time while the pasta is cooking.
Question: did you turn on the grill in the fish baking? Looks so appetizing, although I am not a huge fan of fish. Thank you for the video.
What a lovely video! Thank you so much for sharing these tips. What kind of fish did you use in this video? It looks like Halibut? Also, you always look so gracious and gorgeous! Love how simple & elegant it all comes together 🙂 💗💗💗
I love this and these are my go to meals with kids too! And the feather on the finger….I’m glad I’m not the only one who just cracks those fresh eggs right into the skillet fresh from the coop!
Yes, Grand Reserve! I find few know about it. It must be on all my salads, thanks f or new idea….
Looks great! I was told to never use metal instruments on my LeCreuset!
Remember when the lady told Anthony Bourdain, "It's not what you eat, it's who you eat with." So there you go. Besides they look tasty to me.
Bend your fingers like a claw
So u dont cut your fingers off

Add salt after starts boiling
Take pasta out into your hand first and Add to water
Stir for about 30 sec prevent sticking
Great video! We have done oatmeal for supper before as well as pancakes. Spaghetti is one of my main gotos for a quick supper. ❤️
Just wonderful
OMG, I can't believe how simple and quick these recipes are to make.. It just so happens I have some prosciutto, asparagus and eggs in the fridge now.. guess what's for breakfast or brunch;-) I can't wait to try the other recipes either.. I have a hard time lifting the old cast iron skillets we have but am interested in the one you can go from stovetop to oven. Glad your weather is shaping up there, hope it does the same here now!! Anxious to get things cleaned up and looking prettier outside.. Love the lil clip at the end
Minestrone soup, tacos of every type including breakfast taco/burrito & meat sauce with pasta & steamed broccoli with Parmesan.
I love the video. Your so fun and down to earth. If you would please pray for me. Chronic Anemia. Learning about what is good for me and what isn't. Last time this happened I prayed that the Lord would give me a supernatural craving for spinach for 7 days. So I ate a can of spinach for seven days and I found out through an e.r visit that I didn't even have anemia anymore. So praying for the same thing again. Not trusting in any docs just Jesus. Thankyou and Shalom Aleichem Mishpocah ♥️
Sorry, but did you not wash the dutch oven before you used it
The perfect word, Shaye, elevated. That’s what you do to your world, you elevate it. Thanks!
You’re talking right to me! In this season of my life I have 3 under 5 with the youngest a 5 month old. I know you’ve been there! As much as I love to spend a long time cooking in the kitchen making everything fancy, I have to make things easy. It’s taken me a while to admit because it has been frustrating to not be at my full capacity. I’m exhausted from still waking up at night, but don’t want to cut out healthy food for my family. These are great ideas. Thank you for sharing!
This video is one of the most beautiful videos and encouraging videos I've seen in a long time. I almost cried. It's just so simple and charming and POSSIBLE! THANK YOU SHAYE (AND STU)
