  1. This is something that's always confused me so asking.. If you get a lease for an apartment in order to get your D7 and it's going to take months before it gets completed and approved, will this mean you'll be paying for a lease you're not using for that timeframe?

  2. Good morning
Great information, I do have some questions my D7 visa appointment is on August 4th do you know how long the will keep my passport? Also how do I acquire a years lease for my D7 visa application?

  3. Hello Carl, Gilda and James! We are celebrating a year in Portugal and we love it more than ever!!!! We started in Lisbon and just recently moved to Paco de Arcos.

In response to Gilda's comment about young Americans missing their social life – we have a wonderful organization to refer them to in Lisbon. This community has become our second family (beneficiaries, employees, volunteers and interns). It's made up of people from all over the world (many Americans). It's a great opportunity to meet new people (the majority are 25 – 40) and get involved in many fun events with wonderful opportunities to give back as a volunteer. I will wait for approval to post the name and link.

James – "Redwoods". Are you from northern Cali? FYI – I am from Sonoma County.

  4. I appreciate the candid reference of US independence and our bloody and turbulent history and Portugal’s independence from Salazar’s dictatorship. But the Portuguese also had a bloody and repressive colonial past, particularly in Africa!

  5. Thanks for the video. I'm in Colorado on my obligatory biannual visit with my in-laws. Today is the day we Americans celebrate telling the British we wouldn't pay for defeating the French in what you call the Seven Years War.
I hope Millennium Bank figured out there are a lot of foreigners just chomping at the bit to give them money.
By the way, I heard there's a sharp increase in traffic at International Living's website with people looking to move out of the United States over the past couple weeks. Are you seeing an increase in Americans on your sites, too?
