Finished The Beautiful Stone wall Around Courtyard Terrace in an Algarve Courtyard #59

Building stone walls looks straight forward until you start. If you’ve seen my previous houses you’ll know I built many a stone wall. Like fitting a jigsaw puzzle, hunting for the right size. But the end result is worth it because it’s unique. We’ve decided to do as much as we can in the courtyard before we start the house and clearing this area has made a huge difference. Rural Algarve in Portugal is a beautiful area and many are looking to move here so it’s important that we make this house full of character and charm, mixing old with new. The wall is the first step as we gear ourselves up for the roof of the house.

  1. It's really so nice to see all your progress 🌤️☀️🌤️🌞. Beautiful work and but all the same hard work. Rewarding at the same time.
    Stay well Andrew 🌼☀️🌤️🌼☀️🌤️🌼☀️🌤️

  2. Hi Andy fantastic job on that wall looks great even better when the tiles are done on the steps, did your brother build bridges did a great job on those pillars everything is coming along nicely.

  3. Thoughts from morning bike ride 🙂 … what are you putting on the floor of the raised platform? Sta Catarinas to tie in with the steps? Have you considered reusing the encaustic tiles from inside, outside? We had a load from when the previous owners renovated our house from a ruin, couldn’t use them so gave them to friends who used them on a terrace, arranged in a random pattern. Looked fantastic – and really happy that they could be reused!

  4. Nice work Andy-Andrew, been following you from the start, you motivated us partly to move to Portugal.
Sinds a few days me and my family arrived in Loulé for a scouting trip.
If you possibly feel like it then we can have a chat, I'll pay you for a couple of beers, if not no hard feelings!
We are on a scouting trip and every input/insight is appreciated and welcome 😉

  5. You know what Andy….working with your Brother and friendships grown within the village…that
creates good memories for life..even when you no longer want to take on such challenges, these good times will never leave you..and you have it all on video .Like your music Andy.

  6. Huzzah! . . Always a pleasure to see your plans, adventures and thought processes unfolding Andy and especially your happy-go-lucky attitude to life . . ditto all other great comments on the awesome walled platform and steps you’re building. Btw Brilliant idea to reduce the roof length and bring in that wonderful view too ☀️

  7. Having seen your video of your other houses and stone walls, this is not a surprise in your efforts. Beautifully done. The courtyard is looking soooooo good! Thank you for sharing your journey.

  8. Brilliant episode Andy, it's great that you're mixing up the 'content' in each one as well. You do what it says on the tin… Real Algarve Living. God alone knows I have many jobs on the go at the same time too. Brilliant, and have a good week.

  9. The wall looks great, what a transformation! Bringing back that roof is a really good idea, looking forward seeing the beams cut and seeing the space that creates. 👏👏

  10. Omg I’m in love with ur videos. Just watching this one had me chuckling knowing I’m going to have to watch it again watching James’ work as I am transfixed with the patio coming in to it’s own. I’m just so impressed with the quality of your work guys.
Thanks for the cheerful video as ever as I’d a grumpy day and shouted at the pup who’d jumped onto the kitchen counter ( spaniel) split and broke stuff everywhere I spent rest of night giving myself a hard time over shouting at her ( she’s forgiven me as dogs do) but I took my punishment to be the jazz bit of ur music selection as you started the wall 🤣🤣so even that made me laugh. Cheers thanks for the smiles
