First ever red extreme heat warning issued in UK as Europe hit by heatwave – BBC News

A red extreme heart warning has been issued for the first time by the UK Met Office for parts of England, meaning a risk to life is likely as temperatures could hit 40C (104F).

It points to there being a danger to life, with the risk of illness not limited to vulnerable people.

In Europe, the heatwave is fuelling wildfires in Portugal, France and Spain.

Experts say heatwaves are becoming more frequent and extreme because of climate change.

  1. Just imagine other group of people using this heartbreaking situation to poke fun at Whyte people? I’m so proud of my DNA. The maturity in us is unbelievable. We don’t make fun or look down on people. We welcome them and feed them until they turn their backs on us. Take care out there, go to the nearest Mall to cool down..

  2. I can't imagine having to deal with temps being 45C when I feel like dying at 25C.. We are getting 35C tomorrow where I live and I thank God I have AC at work.

  3. It is very bad all over the world! Nobody should be saying that they enjoy this heat. Think of our brothers and sisters in Africa and India they are dying like flies. You heard about the 10,000 head of cattle that died in Texas a few weeks ago. Just standing out in the heat with the colour black table really just killed by the heat. Those are mammals and we are mammals. The world has to get together and reduce emissions and they have to tackle this whole problem of climate change. But everybody just wants to put bandages on the one little sore that they’re experiencing. It’s ridiculous! The whole world has to get together and stop using their dishwashers, their air conditioners, and all the other things they’re using that are completely ridiculous and killing the planet.! We don’t have much longer. Look at Guy McPherson‘s monster climate change page. It’s a grim reality

  4. Just take a water flask with you, wherever you go. Keep wetting your clothes.
I find it concerning that my favorite island was hit by a heatwave.
I summoned breezes yesterday. Hope it helps.

  5. Why crying now? Humans are totally responsible for this. Keep cutting forests in the name of development and expecting nature to return cool breeze. 🤣

  6. YOU ALWAYS BASHING OUR COUNTRY PHILIPPINES FROM HOT WEATHER AND NOW YOU EXPERINCE WHAT WE EXPERINCE HAHAHA BUT STILL YOU ARE OPEN YOU GO HERE ITS RAINING SEASON IN THE PHILIPPINES NOW ITS BETTER THAN TO COOK INTO THE SUN DUE TO HEATWAVE CALAMITY CHANGE AND NOW OUR COUNTRY IS COLD BCOZ OF RAINING SEASON

  7. There are thousands of women and children who have been living for more than 47 years in climatic conditions in which the temperature during the summer usually ranges between 46 and 52 degrees Celsius without air conditioners and without refrigerators.
In the first years of this period (20 years), people lived in tents and without electricity.
No one from the West cared about the matter, although this situation is still going on with a slight difference (the beginning of the introduction of electricity, even if it is weak).
This is the case of the Sahrawi people who live in the aforementioned conditions due to the Moroccan invasion of their land in 1975. It seems funny that others complain just because the temperature reached 39 degrees Celsius.

  8. Dr Rana
This the results of so called physical development of the world created by the man for his own benefit but not only he suffers all the other creatures in the world. How selfish human being is?

  9. All these temperatures are so unbearable because we've done a great disservice to human beings by building concrete roads, skyscrapers everywhere. The same streets with trees and vegetation would be 30% cooler and less hot. We have to start caring about this planet quick if we don't want to see this happen more often every summer.

  10. People from warmer countries saying “it’s not that bad“ YES it is! Places like the UK and other parts of Northern and Central Europe are not equipped for hot weather. Houses here are built to keep heat inside and cold outside, 96% of houses don’t have ACs. Plants and trees that are essential to our wildlife can’t survive in these conditions.

  11. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory. – Revelation 16:9 Holy Bible

  12. I realize it sucks, I live in the southern states of the US. I know that heat and humidity. However, it's time for Europe to invest in HVAC. It's standard here in the US. They're in every home. From what I understand, they're not in every home in Europe. We use cars (with air-con) to get around and I know a lot of other countries use public transportation or walk, but it's time to make adjustments in the summer. You adapt, things change. It will make life a lot easier and comfortable.
