Geoguessr – Capital Cities, 3 minutes per round [PLAY ALONG]

You’ve seen me play this map and take my sweet time about it, well today,
I thought it would be an interesting idea to see if I could successfully identify these capitals within the strict time limit of 3 minutes (whilst conveniently not missing my flight to Boston) The results were mixed..

You could easily beat me here:
PLAY ALONG: Play your round, put your marker down, then switch tabs back to Youtube to watch my attempt and the result. This way you don’t ruin the game or the video!

  1. Quick tip on Scandinavian roads: gate = Norway, gata = Sweden, gade = Denmark. You can also tell from the alphabet as they use slightly different letters, if you’re looking at street signs, gata/gate/gade is the key giveaway.

  2. Another pro-tip for Scandinavia. The vowls «ä» and «ö» is just Sweden (you might find similar in Finland). Double A «Aa» is very common in Denmark (we had them in Norway, but all signs and streets have changed it to «Å»). And «Æ Ø and Å» is very common in Norway. So if in doubt, that can be a tip.

  3. 1 round I did 2.9 yards
    2 round I guess 8.9 yards
    3rd round 136 miles (haha)
4d round 523 km (first guess was San Francisco but I changed it with 21 seconds to go)
5t round 886 miles (you stolen my luck here) but I guessed in Tibet because of the guy in white underneath the 620 lied to me

  4. The biggest clue in the final round was all of the English text. Bangladesh sometimes has English (mostly street names above shops) but you rarely see every building plastered in English like that. There's also the fact it's a photosphere. Bangladesh has been on street view for a good while, so photospheres in built up areas are rare. India, on the other hand, has only been partially added to street view recently.

  5. Hi Tom, indeed a ferry between BsAs and Montevideo takes less than three hours and it's actually very cheap. You should come and visit someday 😉
Tip for next time: here in the capital cabs are very distinctively white with a black and yellow stripe and yellow roof.
    Cheers from Uruguay 🇺🇾

  6. Another how not to travel series!! What!! I’m gonna be honest, the straight line missions are great, spectacular even. But the last how not to travel series was crazy. It almost seemed like a movie how perfect it all was, let’s gooo

  7. I got 5k on the first 3 rounds, correctly guessed Stockholm on the 4th round, but couldn't pinpoint and got completely screwed on the last one: I saw a sign saying "Lahore" something and went for Pakistan. Well, it wasn't Islamabad.
