  1. My mom is from Uttara Kannada, and she had some Christian Konkani friends. She said stuff about them eating rice cooked with salt, bathing in the evening, etc. She also mentioned an incident where she was preparing curd rice from rice cooked by her friend, she put curd over it and added some salt, and it became too salty and thus unedible.
    I thought these were just weird instances, but damn, the explanations behind this are disturbing.

  2. Soon we will have Kerala files, TN files & who knows what files. Why don't we have one 'Indian files' and finish off with it? Very bored with this constant crying over history!

  3. That is why i cannot bear to go to Goa. When i see a church, i know a temple once stood there.
    The biggest travesty is the skeleton of the dog Xavier kept in their church. He’s probably roasting in some Christian hell for eternity

  4. This is slowly but surely still happening in plain sight all across India and yet we are so uncomfortable with the truth.

    It served Britain to turn a blind eye…England was a christian state

  5. A book by name “The guardian of the Dawn “ by American inter religious scholar by name Richard Zimlar and he calls Goan Inquisition as the cruelest of all Christian Inquisitions. He went to Lisbon and did research.

  6. Being a Goan i would like to say this that we the students or children should be educated with this facts at our early age. As we choose our own paths at a higher education, only few get to know about the history of our own Goan Culture and Portuguese inquisition.

    I being a Goan just got enlightened to this topic today, same way there are many other Goans who do not know about this deep secret.
    Again as u said, we don't want the churches of Goa to be broken down or go against the religion. But the facts should be portrayed as a history of Goa.
    Thank you Shefali maam for putting up the facts. N Thank you Kushal Mehra( The Carvaka podcast) for portraying this facts to the world.

  7. Real names of our places I can think of top of my head : Goa = Gaumantak, Pune = Punya Nagari, Ratnagiri = Ratna Nagari, Mumbai (Bombay) = Mumba Devi, Bangalore = Bengaluru (from Benda Kaluru), Mangaluru = Mangala Devi (Mandir), Kumble = Kanipura, Nazarabad = Mysuru, Islamabad = Kozhikode, Hyderabad = Bhagyanagar…….

  8. @ Shefali Vaidya – Court of Inquisition was abolished by the Portuguese Constitution of 1838 and not 'Due to pressure by the British". I understand the Portuguese may have done a lot of things, but the British entire Destroyed India, and not just India, many other Countries as well! So we shouldn't forget about that as well!

  9. @Shefali Vaidya – Under your topic "The Terror and the Torture" -Yiu mentioned a point "That Proof needed to be provided", as atleast it's not like today's time where communities are assault without any lack of proof, but merely upon one's assumptions! – What have you got to say about that??

  10. Wat good the Portuguese rule did was it made Goans unite else the community from which(I sud not be saying this) this lady belongs wud have totally harasses the common people of Goa. Even today this lady's community feels tey own Goa.. So don't lecture us on our history.. We are proud of our legacy…

  11. What a very sad yet truly wonderful presentation by Shefali Vaidya – very important to learn history lessons from our past. Thank you, Carvaka, for this!

  12. Goans should come out of their colonial hangover and they can start doing that by first renaming each and every portuguese sounding place into Konkani.
    E.g., Panjim -> Panaji.
    Quepem -> Kepe.
    Sanquelim -> Sankhali.
    Bardez -> Baradesh.
    Mapusa -> Mhapsa.
    to name a few…

  13. Great history which needs to be known by all. Goa inquisition is now well documented now..
    Long back I read a good book "A daughter's story'" by Mario Kauto".
    Also the Goan christian still carry on Hindu tradition.
    Pope must regret and ask for forgiveness.

  14. Shefali ji Father francsi is not protugues even in portugues chrsitian faced big problem pls dont comment on christian fatehr francis xavier u r really joining false narative yes father came to propogate chrsitinity but he failed and returned is real story mentioned arya samaj who defeated father francis xavier also many chatolic chrsitians are freedom figheter in goa

  15. Our ancestors left everything in Goa only they kept religion, God's, our culture took their lives in hand we came to coastal region of Karnataka that gives shelter, land to build temples .We paid gratitude to Rani ChennaBhairadevi,Rani Abbakka, Sonda Nayaks🙏🙏🙏

  16. Very true, there should be Goa files too. Been a Goan I know how this is true and my ancestors have also suffered and lost their home and belonging and had to hide and live in the forests in interiors of Goa 4-5 centuries ago.

  17. Pope is apologizing to those who had already converted to Christianity and lost their culture. In case of Goa, majority is still Hindu so apologizing to Hindus can destroy Christian conversation mission in India.
