Its been nearly 3 years since we left the UK, got in our campervan, and drove to Portugal in search of a new life. In this episode we cover our most frequently asked questions and we have a special offer from our sponsors Manscaped.
We are Ken & Gina. 2.5 years ago, we got fed up with paying a mortgage and having to work boring office jobs just to keep our heads above water! We decided to take a big chance, sell everything, and buy a motorhome, which we used to drive our remaining belongings and our pets to Portugal. We bought a beautiful farm in Central Portugal where we live with our 3 dogs, 2 cats and a bunch of other farm animals. Every week we release new episodes of our Portugal Farm Life where you can get an inside look at how we live and adapt to the challenges of our new lives.

Hey! Watching the Q&A session here, I've got another one: Have you considered transitioning to permaculture? Would probably give you a good microclimate, especially taking the recent drought and possible future heatwaves into account.
Enjoyed this video. Been following you since you drove down from the Uk and it’s nice to have a refresh of what you are up too.
Keep up the good work😎👍🏼
posso ir passar duas semanas na sua fazenda mas com acampamento com uma gatinha linda . Eu faço o almoço todos os dias porque adore cozinhar mas uma vez nada mais .
I adore seeing you and Gina together!!! It was a great chat, and very lovely video hearing about your lives and beautiful animals! Thank you for this wonderful share!
Great video🐶🐶🐶🍻🍻
Whilst temps here never got to your temps, it was, for us, mightily hot. Our local hen rescue gave us a tip, and that tip was to make large ice cube lollies for the hens. I used a couple of chinese takeaway plastic pots, half filled with water, and added corn, watermelon and grated, sliced cabbage, froze overnight and then gave half way through the day. The ice melted slowly and the chickens enjoyed picking out the cabbage, corn and melon, which then sat in their crops and cooled them down. We also gave slices of water melon from the fridge as well as adding a couple of ice cubes to their water feeders. They did seem much more comfortable on the days we did this, no more sitting with feathers ruffled, wings out and gaping.
This is more of a PORTUGAL RETIRED FARM LIFE. They have a very smart setup with little farm work involved 👍except the vineyard. They have a great lifestyle. Awesome job 👏👍( JUST MY OPINION)
Great video 👍🏻
absolutely loved this episode guys!!
Cool Q&A, thanks 👍🏼
I was born and raised on a diary farm in New Zealand. Animals are a big commitment and yes I think you are wise not gathering more. I had a milking goat years ago, it sounds romantic waking up and milking a goat, it's only romantic for a short while.
Eddy's breed fends off birds of prey so chickens to him is the enemy. Dog Dog is the bird friendly watch dog, it's not their fault.
Love the house/farm tours. So cool.
So happy to hear about all the babies. Hope you don't feel the need to justify your worklife to anyone; you provide pleasantness always. Looks like with a bit of rain the corn might take off!
Love the video guys, really informative and funny, miss you
Great Q and A. That’s funny, using the manscape in the lady garden!
You see some people who grow veg in the shade of the olive trees, might work for you
This segment is framed and edited like a beautiful greeting card! Wow! I love watching your Q&A sessions.
Very nice Q&A again! Good to see the cats are still happy and healthy! Hope you will have lots and lots of rain in the autumn guys 😃
Great video guys xx
You were the first ones I started watching, lovely place, 2 years to go before I can get there, I remember u paid €67000 for that, bet its 3 times that now. And nice area
Great video
Very interesting
Thank you for sharing 😁
Very nice 🙂💚 way of life 💚
And those dogs are Beautiful ❤️
Absolutely amazing update, thank you, Ken I love that you often mention SA . Please let us know when you're visiting here and I'll buy you a beer, that's only if you visit Nelson Mandela Bay aka Port Elizabeth, 😁 Gina awesome to see you again
I have used Blue Mearle Shetland Sheepdogs for my farm animals. They’re very good farm dogs and have very few genetic health problems. They also eat very little food.
Ken you are a born communicator and hearing London Gina's accent is always a funny experience. You both are in right track, only missing the damn water which never arrives.
Ken and Gina, lovely catch up with you both. We have watched you from the very beginning, you were the very first channel we watched and are the inspiration that drives us to do the same…..Moving next Autumn 🤞🏻 Thankyou for the update xx
I could sure use some really good olive oil!!! I was thiking of boing up to CB this coming week.
I dont mean to put words in your mouth, but I dont think you should be apologetic for the lifestyle you have chosen. I know our culture is driven by work ethic and that is good but to a point. As long as you can afford to sit back and smell the flowers you whould do so, if you so wish, with a clear conscious. YOu choose the things that you care about and care for them, and leave the other things to others. I find it most commendable. If anyone can do it, it will be Ken that turns me onto beer. Cant say that I like it, but Ken you should be doing a commercial because your love for this beverage comes across loud and clear. Living in Argentina I too have a love for red meat especially stake, so no commercial there. Be yourselves follow your dreams and ignore the nay sayers. I for one admire the simple life and if it does not include beavering away in a veg patch all the better. Because that leads to canning the veggies that is so counter intuitive, since it kills all the goodness in the vegetabes (pasturazation)and basically reduces it to pretty cardboard. Now something to look into ( my new endevour) is fermenting, keeps the goodness within the veggies and I hear makes some interesting drinks! Best of luck.
Nice update to what you guys are up to. Didn't know that Gina is working two days a week. Good to have a diversion from Farm Life. We're glad the dogs are doing ok. Keep doing what you're doing. A year from now things will get better. We look at the world as the glass half full. Be Well and Stay Healthy! Love you guys.💖💖 Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond, Va.
Loved the sponsorship advert!🤣
As I clicked out of this video I got a suggested video for a video about people who just had a lot of fire damage last week. The person said the neighbours lost everything, and they themselves had a lot of damage. "Simply Living in Portugal"
Thanks for the info
👌🏻👌🏻
DO NOT SHAVE double coated dogs , people that suggest it clearly don’t know what they’re talking about .
As the recent fires in Ourém and Serra da Estrela proved and contrary to what some portuguese environmentalists preach, there are no "fire resistant" trees.
Try Colloidal silver it kills parasites
Great vlog…lovely seeing all the doggies!!!
Hey Ken and Gina, I have been watching you since your move in the van with the kitties! You have done a great job and you are probably one of the interesting, informative and relaxing prog on YT. Love it X:)
I guess farm life can have different meanings to different people. I have the sense that you are very cautious about new ventures and want to preserve your freedom to come and go which is a legitimate choice. I have been following your videos for awhile and do find them kind of repetitive such as the annual collecting of hay and olives, etc. I would like to see some new kinds of activity. At the same time, this is your life and your right to live it the way you want to. You are nice people and I wish you and your dog and chicken family well.
Hi ken and Gina thanks for sharing your farm life history. I love your Farm 🚜 life and the land its beautiful 😍
Hi, I don’t feel you should have to justify how you choose to live, the videos are interesting as they are.🥰
Great catch up! Thanks! 👍
Hello Ken and Gina, what is the brand of your measuring device/ rangefinder you used in your previous videos ? I need a good/precise one. Thank you!!
Thank you for addressing the questions I wondered about!!
Hugs from 🇨🇦
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love you guys.
Gina has picked up the SA Ja….
I actually think the agriculture is a good business. Less maintenance of farm animals. Can't wait to see your grapes and wine.🍇🍇🍇
Do you think you would run an Airbnb in the future? Use a portion of the land and some sort of rental plans.
