House Hunting in Texas (FOUND ONE WE LOVED)

AND we are back, searching for homes in Texas! This time we went a bit further north to Dallas’ real estate properties, which happens to be cheaper than what we found in Austin. In this video, we visit real estate properties in Northern Dallas and find several that we really like! We continue to learn more about Texas’ real estate market, what we are able to purchase, and overall, level our expectations.

A big thank you to John Cramer, the real estate agent who showed us around his beautiful city.

Where will house hunting take us next?

  1. Will you make a statement condemning the unjust war on Ukraine and use your position, as an influencer, to encourage your followers to support both Ukrainians and racialized people fleeing Ukraine alike? 🇺🇦🏳️‍🌈🇺🇦🏳️‍🌈

  2. Amazing video and omg love it!! I been checking real estate in my free time and I as well from and live in Toronto! I checked Alberta and omg it’s amazing and a lot of great options and choices in Edmonton and Calgary! Price is very good for the homes! Huge job pool too. Both cities also go all out for pride too! The weather there is a mix of stuff but the mountains and wild life you see is unbelievably stunning and beautiful!

  3. I had a coworker many years ago who always looked at houses on the market for comparison to home. She also had to go to the grocery store just to see how much the locals paid for milk, bread and eggs lol. She felt bad for the residents of Hawaii when it came to the cost of living. It wouldn’t have stopped her from living there though. You have to pay the price for beauty she said.

  4. We all don't really need to worry about the dump in Bitcoin price, Bitcoin still remains one of the best investment one could make in life. More persons are gonna be millionaires and we have bitcoin to thank for that.

  5. Probably the reason (or one of the reasons) the houses in Dallas are cheaper than in Austin is that in Austin, you were looking in the city of Austin itself, but in Dallas you were looking in the suburbs (Richardson). If y'all want the "weird", LGBT-friendly, liberal vibe of Austin, but with a more affordable house, maybe look in the suburbs of Austin like Pflugerville, Manor, Del Valle, or Manchaca. Good luck!

  6. Please reconsider moving to Texas. Coming from someone who formerly lived in the South the “conservative” (the 21st century term to try to make white supremacists and homophobes sound “normal”) extreme anti-LGBTQ policies (which the majority of citizens agree with and do not hesitate to express their hatred on a daily basis in the most vile ways imaginable) is abhorrent on so many levels and will wear on you over time — mentally and emotionally.

I fully understand that the cost of homes in Toronto is exorbitant but there are so many areas in the U.S. that are great places to live where the vast majority of locals are accepting of all citizens. If you haven’t been following the news out of TX over the past 60 days (which I presume you have) the recent policies that have been enacted by Governor Abbott (who sadly will likely be re-elected in Nov) are unconscionably harmful and genuinely evil, particularly for trans youth and their families.

I love all your videos and positive mindset but for your own long term benefit please do NOT move to Texas. Any of the other 49 states would be far better places for an LGBTQ couple/family to live. Take care and thanks for the update. Wishing both of you all the best.

  7. Awwww you two are adorable. Love y'all ❤️ Michael you look like Neo when he found out he's the One and you're driving to kick some booty 😁 stay well and all the best with your home search

  8. I love watching you both. Your content is some of my favorite on YouTube. With that said, it looks like Texas is having the same issues we're having in Florida where transplants or investors are going into these states and driving up the prices of homes that are not necessarily worth the listed price because they are cheaper than houses in their home cities. Clearly one couple can't drive the housing market, but the situation of overpaying for homes simply because they're cheaper is such an issue for residents of a particular region who often times don't make the money to afford to overpay for a property in their home towns. I loved the property for $310,000 and I'm glad you saw the benefit of purchasing at lower prices. Keep the content coming, but I couldn't stop myself from saying something. ❤️❤️❤️

  9. Are you a little concerned that the governor of Texas Greg Abbott (Republican Party) is anti LGBT… AND most recently trying to charge parents of Trans kids with child abuse.

  10. Dallas has the First Lesbian and Gay Credit Union in the US. "The First Gay & Lesbian Credit Union in Dallas is believed to be the first cooperative to serve the gay community in Dallas, Texas, and obtained its state charter in 1988"…talk about forward thinking, 1988!!!

  11. Here are some considerations from someone who lived in Texas for five years and just relocated to NC. Look for homes in metro areas like Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and parts of Houston. Not Fort Worth. Areas outside these metros, especially rural areas, are typically very conservative. Watch out for property taxes. They are the hidden screw job in Texas. They are usually quite high and go up annually. Check them out as you look at Texas properties. They will run your mortgage up. There are other taxes in Texas that are high like sales tax and new car sales tax. Since there is no income tax in Texas this is where government agencies, like the local school districts, ISD's, get their operating money. Don't be misled. For what you get, Texas is expensive. And as you have found, housing prices are rising at a ridiculous rate. Unless you feel a very special calling to Texas, look elsewhere. Better deals and lifestyles can be had. Note: Your Toronto is in a class by itself! Hell, anything is cheaper than Toronto except maybe New York City, LA, and San Francisco! Good luck.

  12. The $310,00 property was a decent house at a decent price plus there was room to put in a pool. I still don't understand why you would want to move to texas of all places since the state government is so anti LGBT.

  13. Hey can I get some advice? I wanna do the same thing that you guys are doing, but I feel awkward wasting realtors time if I am not necessarily ready to buy right away but I definitely wanna start looking and getting a feel and a good idea of what I do want in the near future. How do you guys deal with that?

  14. Really interesting to see what's available compared to more expensive places, like CA where I live, for example lol. Dallas houses definitely gave me a King of the Hill vibe.

  15. My unsolicited opinion is that every minute you spend researching real estate is a brilliant investment for the future of a brilliant young couple. I'm sincerely impressed you took my note from your last real estate video which is much more difficult to do than it seems. Even though it's commonly used, I'd try to break the habit of saying 300 AND 25 thousand dollars or 400 AND 50 thousand dollars. We don't say 40 and 7 dollars nor 20 AND 1 dollars. (Final pointer from this obviously very grumpy old man!)

I won't be around to see it, but in 20 years I have a feeling the two of you will be wickedly successful with real estate if it continues to hold your interest.
