Former Kyiv resident Anna Dovbysh says she lasted five days in a “not so bad mental state” before she “just couldn’t take it anymore” and tried to escape the war with Russia by fleeing to the western part of Ukraine.
“Just two weeks ago I was on holiday in Portugal, living my happy life, and then we heard the news about the probable invasion,” she told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“My friends told me I had to stay in Europe but I came back because I wanted to be with my family in case something happens.
“Then the war started, and it’s been horrible – the worst time of my life really – you can see those images, it’s all true. We have been being bombarded; there are rockets flying over our heads.”
