  1. Hi Martin and Edwin
    Very much appreciate your talks. Although I like the idea of shipping container homes as a affordable home solution, having been involved in studies on chemicals in shipping containers, I would advise caution to workers/ DIY removing dunnage or floorboards from containers without proper ventilation or PPE, as the pores in the wood can retain chemicals from previous fumigation or being off-gassed from cargo e.g. formaldehyde. Knocking the wood could potentially cause a sudden high release of these chemicals. Unfortunately, there has not been a lot of investigation into this area of research and it is not clear whether the containers used were specifically constructed to build homes or been previously used for shipping.

  2. Here's a question for Parliamentarians to ask of the Minister responsible Centrelink:
    "For all those receiving Rent Assistance from Centrelink, based on rent agreements/ other proof provided to qualify for this assistance, what are the numbers and percentage of recipients whose reported rent accounts for:
    1) less than 30% of their total Centrelink payment;
    2) 30-50%;
    3) 50-70%;
    3) over 70%?
    How many of those who report paying over 50% of their toal benefit on rent were reviewed since 2020?"

  3. The Hub of this economic wheel is driven by Real Estate owner developers.
    You say what is wrong with that.
    I say everything we find in our economy now is due to all this.

    Tradespeople are sick of trying to compete with sub standard Tradesmen and women who will work for the lowest price.
    This is also the reason we are short of trade skills and have to look for immigration to solve shortages all caused by the greedy owner developers wanting to tart the place up. City you brought this on yourselves deal with it.

  4. The home I recently sold was a potential development site and I had a real estate agent scaring away buyers so it could be sold to the developer at a lower price. I actually heard testimonies from people who put in offers than were never presented to me. Be careful out there, especially if the agent says "we have a developer interested in your property".

  5. If Edwin was referring to Foxcon it's a self contained city of 230,000.00 people. 6min in. 18 min 30 I have been banging on about container houses since pre pandemic. Best part is you can have the last year Tafe students doing the plumbing, electrical, plastering etc as part of their final year exams the state / territory govt gets access to a cheap housing structure and should you look on line there are many hotels, student accommodation, built from shipping containers.
