If you’re just going off the “Top Gun: Maverick” trailers and posters, it’s not quite clear that anyone other than Tom Cruise returned from the “Top Gun” cast for the sequel. But Val Kilmer’s Iceman is definitely in the movie, with his involvement having been announced years ago. By all accounts, his role is pivotal – and maybe even a little bit tear jerking.
Iceman and Maverick famously butted heads in the original “Top Gun,” leaving fans wondering where their relationship would be now. According to critics, “Top Gun: Maverick’s” Iceman scene is one of the key factors making this movie so surprisingly moving.
Strap on your aviators and be warned of spoilers – it’s time to talk about that Iceman scene in “Top Gun: Maverick.”

What did you think about this scene?
I haven't seen it but it annoys me the picture of him in the uniform. His head would not be in that position, it is too casual. I was in the Navy, husband was also and now my son.
the plot was flat. star wars like mission. dropping bombs in to a vent to blow a reactor. the canyon and cannons same thing they could not afford to use the carrier. better script next time
F*** this review. You never even watched the movie!
Wrong assessment here IMO. It was perfect to include Val Kilmer the way they did. In Star Wars spin-off fashion, it would be cool to see a movie about Ice Man's journey to becoming an Admiral, but I am afraid it would just be another CGI flick. Cool thought nonetheless.
What I love about the relationship as you can clearly tell that in this future take with them that their relationship is definitely evolved over the years to a great amount of trust on both ends.
Maverick went from being a selfish person to embracing conservative values and took on some damned responsibility. Good on him.
she's wrong.
Gee, thanks for not showing us and allowing us to hear it for ourselves. Also, stick to reviewing p.o.s. liberal flicks & leave decent movies alone.
I absolutely disagree with this opinion. I think the way the scene was created and what happened afterwards added a lot to the film and was nothing wrong with it.
So glad to hear he is cancer free. Saw the Movie last night and could not have been more entertained. Still think his best part was Tombstone.
Just a trash assessment. Bad job Mojo.
This move should be called "top down" this time Hollywood relay hit the bottom.
The scenario is 100% replica of the same name movie from 1986 and is using same 36 years old air planes (F18 hornet) and wooou what a surprise same actors but 36 years older. Watch all those rusty machines (and people) make tricks which wasn't capable to do even when was a "young" is just pathetic
The flying "thing" show up in the first few minutes make a turn in Mach 10 (10 times speed the sound) in the "real world" it would result a overload of 30-70 G which will basically kill everything alive inside, the "leftover" would be described as "pureе"
The entire movie is insulting the intelligence of average educated human bean.
You're so wrong it's offensive. You need to apologize to Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, and then never ever say anything again because you aren't worthy to say anything and your punishment should be never be allowed to watch Top Gun or Top Gun 2.
Fu Looper
"One of the most unexpected moments", as if hollywood sequels aren't shallow nostalgia acts that exploit anything they can for a quick buck.
Why was iceman active and not retired?
100% disagree. This is what prompted the release of Maverick so he could BE Maverick again by stealing a plane and then proceed to smoke the mission course in record time. This was a pivotal part of the movie where Maverick pulls himself out of Icemans shadow and leaves the grief of losing Goose behind (which is what’s been dragging him down for the past 35 years and why he’s STILL that “well decorated” captain instead of much higher). Anyone who’s dealt with a loss of this significance will understand this part of the movie. Grief left unfinished… or the simple little chat left by Iceman himself to Maverick; “it’s time to let go” will hold you back big time in life until you’re finally able to let go. This is brilliant writing and I’m sad that you couldn’t see this.
I am glad to see all the outpouring of support for Val Kilmer. In my opinion he is one of the most entertaining and talented actors, regardless of the role. His comeback and recovery are an inspiration and I hope we see a lot more of him in the future.
Shut up…

this channel never fails to disappoint
Dislike. Kilmer role was a perfect fit.
Made total sense to me. It leant the movie some genuine poignancy. And it's also actually obvious to pretty much every movie goer, so you're just trying to generate clicks.
So, you know, sorry, but this is essentially very low grade bullshit.
No wonder I unsubscribed this channel years ago. I removed a parasite.
I have got a movie DVD of
Val Kilmar with
Kurt Russell and Sam Elliott in
Tombstone
I am dedicating this movie DVD to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxx
RIP Iceman
Looper being critical of a well received hit??? Strange…
Thought the Iceman part was well done. Loved it.
