Keeping COOL during a HEATWAVE🌞🔥❤ | PORTUGAL FARM LIFE S4-E26

Portugal is experiencing record high temperatures this Summer and our farm is absolutely boiling! We hit 42.5c and totally smashed the previous local record of 40.6c! In this episode we enjoy a great meal at one of my favourite steak restaurants in Castelo Branco (AkaSushi). We get our guest accommodation ready for the arrival of my sister who currently lives in America. Our poor DogDog is really struggling with all of this heat and Gina talks about some of the issues he is facing with his new life on the farm as an old farm dog.

We are Ken & Gina. 2.5 years ago, we got fed up with paying a mortgage and having to work boring office jobs just to keep our heads above water! We decided to take a big chance, sell everything, and buy a motorhome, which we used to drive our remaining belongings and our pets to Portugal. We bought a beautiful farm in Central Portugal where we live with our 3 dogs, 2 cats and a bunch of other farm animals. Every week we release new episodes of our Portugal Farm Life where you can get an inside look at how we live and adapt to the challenges of our new lives.

  1. Boy oh Boy the heat!!!! You seem to be doing ok with it, I would have to stay in the pool I am afraid the whole day. I had a golden retriever that had a double coat. I also read that I shouldn't shave her but I did and boy was she happy! I only did it in the summer and she would just jump with joy! You may want to consider it. Thanks for sharing your life. See you next time. Better take your sister to all the river beaches.

  2. looking forward to the farm to table story. maybe skip part in the middle part. i know it's a fact of life (or farming)…but ignorance is bliss, or i'll end up a vegan (not likely, but possible)

  3. Ahhh ha ha ha! I wasn't the only one! I still think "lady garden" is a cute euphamism. No problem!!! You go Jeana! Don't change a thing! Cheers to both of you!

  4. Hello from Tucson AZ and it's 105F/40C today. When we lose power for more than 30 min we put a big bowl of ice in front of a fan, on the floor, cooler air for the pups and cold drinking water. It helps humans too.

  5. I’m definitely going to try that sushi place next time I go to Portugal, but I think I’ll go with the waggyu steak 🥩
I would love to see your friend’s farm where he has the beautiful cows and ear more about how that special meat comes to our plates 😊

  6. I think the chiropractor idea is excellent. I heard miraculous things have happened. So I’ll be praying for dog dog. I saw where it’s 40c in London! We’re getting here in Colorado USA too. It’s been 101-102 for the past 2 days! Misery loves company! Thanks for sharing your life in Portugal.

  7. awwww dog dog… I feel for you!! It is so nice dog dog can stand in the water and feel the cooling effect all over his hurting parts!!!
    Have fun with Olivia!!!

  8. I build an eight meter pergola, 3,5 m deep, on the south side of our house, like i saw it in spain , and planted a white and a red wine, a wisteria and an indian bean tree, and now the complette terrace is shaded, the warm air is flowing threw the plants and we had 15liters wine last year. Till it was grown, i used rush mats to shade it. Greetings from Hamburg and collect your rain water, it`s getting evil.
