Living In Portugal | Grocery Prices | June 2022

Worldwide inflation has affected the prices of just about everything. Grocery prices in particular have increased a great deal in the United States. Like the rest of the world, the cost of living in Portugal has increased over the past several months, but by how much? In this video, I unload our grocery cart, showing the prices of some grocery items we buy. I compare the prices to what we paid for the same items in March 2022.

You can watch our March 2022 grocery haul here:

  1. Not bad! Your sweaty brow is perfectly fine; it shows us the truth of shopping😂! And you know that olive oil would have been at least $12 bucks here in the North East, US, if not $18! Good deal😉. I'm curious if you have noticed the prices of organics vs. regular items prices…

  2. Hi from California Kirsten. I am a subscriber now. Thanks for the very good videos. Can I buy tofu there? I eat chicken but am expanding to plant based of one day a week. I want to move to Portugal in the future. Do you go to the Symphony in Portugal?

  3. I admire you for being so practical a person.
Like you I am making a conscious effort to buy items when they are on sale more so now because of the high price of groceries. This week I got mushrooms and broccoli for 0.99, strawberries for 1.88 and large bunches of asparagus for 2.50. I was smiling all the way home for its the best prices I have seen in a very long time for fresh produce🇨🇦

  4. Thank you, Kirsten, for another practical video about living in Lisbon and PT. BTW– (1) My understanding is meat and produce are generally more affordable and fresher in a farmers market compared to a grocery store. I assume this is correct but couldn't validate this on a 3-week trip late last year running around the country. 🏃‍♂ Do you find this to be true and is a farmers' market convenient to where you live? (2) Also, do you find much difference between the various grocery store chains in PT or do you go to PD because it's perhaps closer to your home? BTW–We always found fresh-squeezed OJ to be the best! 🟠 Enjoy.
