I’ve been living in Portugal for just over a month so far and have been enjoying living in Braga. There are many differences I’ve come to see when comparing life in Portugal to living in Italy; everything from the people and culture to the food and even opening a bank account in Portugal and renting an apartment in Portugal. Even though moving to Portugal was something I hadn’t planned to do, I’m quite grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given to explore living here. As a expat in Portugal I’m quite excited to get to know this country even better and explore more of this beautiful country.

After Italy, Portugal what's next?
Northern Portugal is the best in Portugal for meats.
I grew up in a huge West Coast Portuguese community and was always mistaken to be a Portuguese person. I love the Portuguese culture and grew up with many Portuguese friends. I will love moving there.
Thanks for the informative videos.
Giovanni
High data/phone plan costs, rent agreements and you forgot to mention the paper walls, badly built houses and relaxed, no scarf fashion sounds a lot like New Zealand.
Oh…Cod….I went to Portugal (Lisbon and other cities) in a tour. The guide told us to try two things: cod fish and horchata. Loved the cod fish and they cook them in so many different ways. Loved it; oh, yes, the pastries, they are heaven. And as you said, Portuguese people are very friendly. I was treaty like family, like they knew me for a long time. I would love to go back there and stay for a longer time, my own pace. Thank you for your channel,
On the lease what does 1 plus one mean?
Very interesting comparisons…enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Great video but curious why not Spain isn't that culture and language closer to Italian
Did you know that the pacific ocean was named by a Portuguese, Magellan, that means in Portuguese, peaceful. The words Zebra, mosquito… are also Portuguese. I can make list of things we did that changed the world 500 years ago.
14:24 It didn't came from Africa… that type of pepper came from America.
The African ones (Aframomum melegueta) ended up being substituted by the American ones. But the Portuguese introduced the American ones in Africa and in Asia (that's why some people think it comes from Africa)
So… if you go to India or to Sri Lanka and if you burn your mouth… you can blame it on us
10:50 Uiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii they are going to burn you a live :):):):):):):):):):):)
hehehe
Rafael how are you doing? I have enjoyed your last video but we haven't seen your next one. Hope your well God bless.
Is your focus going to change to living in Portugal? I'm asking because I have two friends who are moving there soon and thought they may be interested in your vids.
Please could you recommend the best mobile and internet carriers in Portugal in your opinion and why? Thanks.
It’s nice to hear from you. Always charming and fun.
Quit pretending you’re a radio DJ with your voice. You speak normally whenever you vlog.
If you would leave your room and show whatever country you live in I might watch your video's again.
I can usually tell when someone is Italian vs Austrian or German in Bolzano by the way someone dresses. Italians usually look more put together. Piri piri chicken is really good. When we were on the Azores, chicken was way more expensive than beef and the beef there and on the mainland was excellent.
Interesting comparison video – Thanks!
Can i just say nobody, no country is perfect
What about the Catholic Church ? Is it more or less a part of life /bigger deal than in Italy ?
Portugal has always been my second choice , Italy being first. After a trip to Algarve…I loved it. But I really need more of a small city. Lisbon was nice but too congested. I’ll check out Braga. Yes the dress is very different from Italy to Portugal. Portuguese very warm, friendly. Food I don’t know we’ll. Love fish stew in south. I didn’t like the dish with an egg cooked in tomato sauce. Ham was great. Good info. Glad you’re happy.
Old person? Senior moment? Absolutely No connection with what you did. Don't start with these stupid stereotypes.
Interesting comparisons. We especially appreciate the info on internet/technology costs. Here in the U.S. the costs are ridiculous for the type of service available. Without question, the food in Europe is outstanding!
Hi Rafael i hope you are happy with your move to Portugal I'm sure you have made a good decision time will tell. I love this video with all the fine detail. It really is great to understand the comparisons. Well done I really look forward to more
You have not been looking but sea Gulls are everywhere now . I am here in the North of Italy and we see them . Italy is the place of fashion and it's nice to see people try to look there best , well to day is a lovely sunny day and i have my windows open .
Portuguese speak better English because they don't dub foreign movies
It's funny, last year I was following a youtuber that all she dreamed of was to live in Italy. She did made it to Verona, was blown away every day about the life there, excited, happy and then months later BAM Portugal is the new home. Is Portugal the new Italy now? 🙂
So true about dressing up in Italy. Many Italians are obsessed with clothes. As much as I love esthetics, I think that some of clothes-obsessed Italians are very shallow-minded.
If you don’t pay. Your rent how easy is to get you out. , that’s the question that is important to understand from the perspective of the person that is renting, I’ve seen some places in Europe that if you have children or don’t have resources etc is almost impossible to kicked you out , but great video very interesting
Hi Rafael, loved this new YouTube. Could you please do a cost of living comparison between Braga and Porto. Many thanks.
On your videos of Italy they looked the same as the USA. Maybe not sweats but I barely saw any high fashion. I also saw plenty of overweight People that didn’t do anything to their hair. I observed and that’s what I saw in Italy.
Thanks Rafael, interesting comparisons…..
Too funny! We are born & raised in Canada, my wife is Portuguese and I'm Italian descent and we tease one another all the time about Portugal vs Italy. What Pizza is to Italy chicken PiriPiri is to Portugal, Pastel de nata vs Gelato, Cod vs Lasagna ….oh my 'first world problems' You're a lucky man getting to experience both these beautiful countries. God bless. Stay Safe.
I find your PT vs IT comparisons to be fascinating! I’m an Italian/EU citizen considering retiring to PT from the SF Bay Area and your videos are perfect—hitting that sweet spot for me. 👍🏻 I found fascinating your points about the air (inland Veneto ain’t the best weather during winter), meat quality (from Ireland? Really!?!), less bureaucracy in PT compared to IT (music to my ears!) and lower costs (my conclusion as well) to be VERY helpful. Sweets? Honestly try to stay away but giving an edge to PT over IT I find shocking. 😃 Please continue your excellent work! Looking forward to more! 🇵🇹 🇮🇹 🇺🇸
Thought you were going back to the U.S.?
Really interesting to get this comparison. Thank you.
I only subscribed to your channel because you were in Italy. Best of luck to you and your family 🙂
I suspect, without knowing, that this confused Young man always secretly despised Italy. He now finds himself in Europe's backwater Nation. And I believe he is becoming more desperate with every day that passes.
