  1. in regards to the psychologist fellow, never mentioned any rational, to explain, The Mcann's refusel to answer some 40 questions? i mean what were they willing to answer, and one has to question, did they want to help the police try to find thier daughter, because it doesn't look that way to me.. Excellent debate guys very informative thx.

  2. The parents overdosed her with sleeping pills, she died and they had to get rid of the corpse. The way the mother looks at her husband shows sadness, disgust and fear of being unmasked.

  3. “The only secret is a secret known by one”

15 years later, and nobody came forward. To me, it is proof that whoever took her, acted alone and is the only one who knows what happened to her.

  4. I think she woke up heard her dad talking outside stood on the sofa fell over the back of the sofa near the window hit her nose and bled out which explained the blood under the tiles 🤷 just a thought

  5. I often compare them to James Bulger's mother where you see a huge contrast. That woman was in bits from the second her boy was missing, you could see her falling apart mentally, emotionally, physically. There's sadness in her eyes that remains even now all these years later. With the McCann's I just don't see that. But I understand everyone is different, we don't all show emotions in the same way I guess. But god I could not hold it together if my kids were missing. Even the thought of it makes my stomach do somersaults.

  6. I'm a mother of two children, they're never out of my sight unless they're at school or with a childminder while we work. Now, my childminder happens to be my own sister so I know I can out 100% trust into her, if she didn't do that job they'd be left with grandparents or other family members. So I just cannot get my head around how you could leave your kids unattended in a room on their own, especially in a foreign country that you're not totally familiar with like your own area. Even if they were familiar with it it's just not right, what were they thinking? I don't know whether they're guilty or not but the one thing they are guilty of is neglect. They're two intelligent people right? Is it a case of all brains and no common sense? I'd never forgive myself.

  7. The man seen carrying a child was debunked a while back. Someone came forward and confirmed it was them and their own child.
Fantastic episode as always! Love the way you cover these topics ❤️

  8. It's very interesting that the British media almost immediately took over as family spokesman. Why? They seem to have been controlling the investigation rather than actually assisting the government in Portugal from finding 'the truth'. The fact that she hasn't been found after all of these years and there have no new major developments means that this will not be solved. Madeleine will disappear into the annuls of history, which she doesn't deserve. This case isn't dissimilar from the Job Benet Ramsey case in Colorado.

  9. The worst thing about this case is it was extremely avoidable. The parents were very negligent, I don't get how they felt confident enough to leave 3 young children alone like that.

  10. My theory is that the parents used too much cal pol or similar on the children to make sure they slept and Madeline over dosed and died. Because of their work and reputation they couldn’t admit this. So they hid her in the suitcase and got rid of the body. If they came clean they would have lost everything. Love the whole series and what an ending!! Thank you guys xxx

  11. So basically they were asked if they killed their daughter, the mother laughed and stared at the dad and that motherfucker said that sincr there is no reason to allude to that, the answer is "no". Is this a fever dream?

  12. I worked in childcare for years and dealt with a fair few parents like the McCanns, they want to have it all basically. Even though they love their children they still want to keep their lifestyle, career and freedom so the children are seen as a bit of an inconvenience and put into childcare at every opportunity. I bet they were all in full time nursery at home too.

  13. It’s not normal behaviour to leave your child alone in a hotel room and certainly not three under fives! Maddie woke up the night before and told her parents yet they still left her??? The dogs alerting in the apartment, Kates clothing and the hire car. Kates constant looking to her husband for his reaction before she reacts, him answering questions for her, their lack of co operation with the police. They lied about how often they checked on the children. They lied about the distance from the apartment that they were dining. The friend suddenly remembering a man she saw carrying a child. After Maddies disappearance going for dinner with a famous paedophile. These are all huge red flags to me! I don’t believe they are completely innocent. I don’t have a single friend or know email me at all that has defended their actions leaving the children alone. Why would you risk it when there is a babysitting service? Why did they allow all their friends to trample the crime scene? Why would you go on a family holiday then spend most of the time apart from your kids? As far as I am aware there ass a lot of discussion around the blinds never having been opened. Why didn’t the twins wake up with all the noise and commotion? Why did Kate wash cuddle cat? Why the differences in the timelines? I have met grieving parents and not one would ever wash their child’s favourite toy. Why did Kate? There are too many unanswered questions for me to discount the parents. The one thing in their favour is they haven’t let people forget Maddie although as the British people were very interested in the case maybe they realised that they wouldn’t be able to forget her easily. I follow missing children cases a lot as I was abducted myself when I was five. In 1970 my mum let me right play outside the house in full view of my mum washing up. She turned round and when she turned back I’d gone. I was lucky that someone saw what happened and went for the police and I was found within the hour. I’ll never forget the policeman telling my mum she was lucky I was still alive. Stranger abductions do happen on the spur of the moment however they are rarer than parents/ caregivers murdering their children. Kate and Gerry have acted very suspiciously since Maddies disappearance although it’s hard to say what is normal behaviour of your child is abducted. I do know that my second eldest went missing for five minutes once and I was frantic, I was a mess but I didn’t leave my other child alone while I went to tell their dad! I screamed at him and he ran. If the apartment was so close to the restaurant why didn’t Kate shout? Why would any mother leave two babies alone when one child had already been taken? Too many weird behaviours and 48 unanswered questions is far too many for my liking!!! Why wouldn’t any innocent parent totally cooperate with the police?? 🤔

  14. just weird how not One but Two dogs in not one not two but three locations alerted for death of MM in apartment/car. Bit of a coicidence that Gerry is irked by this and reckons the dog handler is pulling on dog as if somehow the dogs are bullshtting. Also the window dude… you left the door open. handy the Mcanns made their own case here

  15. The biggest problem I have is their lack of guilt. Whether they had anything to do with the disappearance itself they left their children in a vulnerable position by leaving them alone and it’s their fault that their daughter is missing/dead. I think if it was a single working class mother in the McCann’s place she would have been charged with neglect

  16. Too be fair I'm not shocked Ben doesn't think someone following kids should be called a predator ….I mean just remember how he played poo sticks! The lad doesn't know what's going on 😂

  17. I wonder (if the figures were available) if the cost of all high profile cases of abduction in the UK were added up, if they'd equal the amount spent on this one case? I am not heartless, by any stretch of the imagination but, the McCanns somehow managed to garner special treatment that no other family have ever been afforded, before or since. The sheer desperation of the likes of Karen Matthews staging her own daughters disappearance shows that there are some fools who think this is the perfect way to make some money! K & G stopped caring about their little girl a long time ago, you could argue they stopped caring when they started dosing their children up on Calpol so they could galavante the tapas bars… if reports are to be believed.

  18. There were odd people who were neither locals nor tourists showing interest in the children and the parents left a door unlocked. I thought the parents were negligent before knowing this but now I can't understand their actions at all.

  19. The theory that gives me shivers is that one of the drawings is strikingly similar to Gislaine Maxwell, and that she was involved in her abduction.

  20. It's apparent she was taken by an intruder and the Portuguese police were just as negligent as the parents. People who think the parents are part of the shape shifting lizard people club need to get a job.

  21. Whether they killed her directly or not their stupid fuckin decision to leave their young kids alone the way they did sealed her sad fate. Unfit parents if you ask me.

  22. I know if that was one of my children age 4 ..I would of been destroyed.
I would never ever of gained my composure sufficiently to give little unified speeches etc.Nope…I would of been unconsolable…Thats why the parents seemed inhuman to me ,and of course the drugging ..I have to say I,'d heard Gerry wasn't Maddys real Dad ?…xx

  23. Congratulations on another season guys! I'm definitely not ready for some time apart, so delighted to hear ye have some off-season content planned.
Thanks for the laughs, info and distractions this season ❤

  24. British Middle class negligent parents get truck loads of money shoved I'm their direction…no middle class commentators or "experts" dare to publicly accuse them. Now imagine it was a working class couple from Dundee who left their kids on their own (sedated) while they went for a couple of beers and a take away……their other kids would be removed into care straight away and they would be jailed.

  25. (rant incoming and i apologise in advance) THANK YOU for not mentioning calpol. it fucked me off beyond the telling of it that the eight-part documentary with a goddamn netflix budget behind it decided that calpol (aka paracetamol!) has sedative properties, when a tiny bit of research would reveal that it doesn't. they also suggested overdose via calpol which is ludicrous; liver failure is not a quick death.

what is more likely is that the parents were giving the children something like medised or phenergen, for no reason other than to ensure the kids slept while they were away. which is beyond fucked up. both of these are possible to overdose on as these sedatives can cause respiratory depression in small children. and believe me, doctors fuck up a lot. i see it on a daily basis.

anyways! thanks for another great run of shows fellas! enjoy the break <3

  26. I personally think no matter how you look at it, no matter what happened, her parents are to blame regardless, because they left her and her siblings alone. Not only thst but in a foreign country. They should be held accountable.

  27. Dr Das said that ‘if they were clever enough to cover up her death then they’d have been clever enough to fake looking more sad’. Maybe they were clever enough to know how to act in a way that could be considered ‘their way of grieving’ in order for a psychologist to think it is genuine?

  28. I don't think it was that 'murdered' Madeleine McCann, I think they was watched as they left their children unattended a few times? one of the sketches, the kidnappers look like Maxwell…

  29. The parents made a mistake on that night and they were severely punished. With that said the treatment they have had to endure over the years has been horrendous. I hope that the case is finally solved soon and they can bring Madeleine home.

  30. Off topic but I just want to say I F***ing love your podcast. I’m a huge fan of true crime and every one of your shows has given me new details, beyond that I think you are so funny absolutely love it!!! Makes the morning traffic jams entertaining, thanking you all the from SA 🇿🇦🇿🇦

  31. Even if the parents didn't kill her they still have blood on their hands
And should be in prison for neglect

But because they are higher class they get media attention and millions of pounds

The whole case is a travesty and the parents are guilty whichever way you look at it

  32. Not exactly a hot take from me, but I think that the parents are responsible for allowing it to happen, at minimum. I don’t think they did anything sinister – I think they were absolutely dumb as fuck and set it up to happen by not being parents. I have no doubt that this stupid and avoidable mistake haunts them, and whilst I do have sympathy for them (I think you’d have to have a heart of stone not to) I also have a level of contempt.

Why, for instance, did they not get some drinks from a shop and have a gathering inside or just outside their apartment? Or, even better, just take care of their fucking children? Nobody HAS TO go drinking. People DO have to take responsibility for their kids. If they went to that bar because they didn’t want to disturb the kids, that’s the stupidest reason I can think of to just wander off and leave them alone. Your party isn’t as important as your kids, I’d say. Like I say, it’s not exactly a hot take.

Also: “going swimming with sharks in the outback”. Another blinder there – can’t wait for the next series and more Top Ten Ben… cheers all, thanks for putting these up for us; as ever, amazing work.

(Also also: Sorry I nicked your lookalike last time Ben; I commented before watching the whole episode – but hey, I agree with you: BTK looks like Michael Ironside!)
