Today I’m doing a little vlog from Malta!

Malta is one of those countries that often come up in the offshore community, mainly because of its famous Citizenship by Investment program, which offers the best quality passport on the market, but also because of its good tax regime.

We have a number of clients that moved to Malta, invested in Malta, went through their CBI program, and many more that are considering setting up a residency in Malta.

In this vlog, I’ll give you a short overview of the main points you need to know about this country, I’ll debunk some myths and misconceptions and give you the pros and cons of this lovely island.

Who are we and what do we do?

We are Offshore Citizen team. We help people become global: get a second passport, set up a second residency, pay less taxes, do banking abroad, etc.

We have lots of interesting articles on different topics, we have relevant information up to date.

  1. Great content / wanderlust inducing videos as usual. Question for you. I am setting up a remote online agency and have a few staff all over the map. In the next few months I think I will need to set up a company but where would you suggest? I currently live in Panama with permanent residency. Banking here sucks lol.

  2. I would love to see a video about setting up a company in the Canary Islands. What's the requirements, advantages and challenges. A corporate tax rate of 4% and VAT of 7% for some scenarios sounds competitive.

  3. I'm a Belgium born national, had a Belgium company from 2017 to 2019. Since 2019 I also started a company in Malta. Whilst it has it's benefits, I don't consider Malta a "tax haven" by far. Certain unknown things that aren't discussed, make me regret taking the decision of moving everything to Malta. One example is the mandatory corporate audits and expensive accounting. Before anyone is wondering, yes I did shop around for CPA and audit firms to work at the highest quality whilst also being the lowest cost. My first year Maltese accounting and audit expenses were easily over €24.700 in total, I didn't even pay any tax yet. If I would have turned over the same revenue in Belgium then I would have paid around €21.000 in taxes and about 5400€ in accounting expenses. There are numerous tax advantages in Malta but people calling it a "tax haven" are so dead wrong. FYI : Yes I also physically moved to Malta. If you want a nicer part to live I would suggest Lija.
