There is no such thing as a British expat, they are all emigrants to Spain now unless they are on their annual break since Brexit and there are not new rules just for Britons they are the rules for people who enter Spain from a third country, the UK is that third country from 2021 its not just Spain either, Britain voted out this is what they wanted, can't change your mind and want a refund now, that flag was removed with lots of British fanfare in some quarters, now they want special treatment, you having a laugh!

I don’t actually know anyone who could care less about this. It mostly affects people who have abandoned their own country because they claim to prefer the ‘European lifestyle’. I very much doubt the suggestion that a significant number of them voted for Brexit.

It’s clear the person who runs this channel is filled with prejudice to the eye-balls and does not know the situation of Brits in Spain at all. ‘What if the south coast was filled with Spanish bars?’ is one claim, well, what if their northern towns were filled with foreign born nationals and mosques everywhere? 9 days for Swedish Citizenship isn't correct, not even close!
As a British Citizen like everyone else from a 3rd country there is a process of checks and validation before a decission is made by the immigration Dept in Norkoping , these include any criminal record, tax debts, and debts that have been sent for collection, Bank and employment details,a permanent adress registered with the Swedish Tax authority and a Swedish ID Nr, and an absolute minimum of 5 years residency and work permit!
This process can take a few months.
The longer a person has been a resident 5+ years has an effect on the period it takes to get swedish citizenship, its definitely not 9 days and it can take 3- 4 months or longer.
There is a 4 month waiting time for anyone to get a Swedish passport, because of several factors, swedes are pretty miffed as many want a holiday but have expired passports.
Passports are issued by the Police and can only be reissued by personal visit to the local police, who are also very busy trying to stop gang killing every week and a nutter burning books.
So please correct the 9 days cos it's

It was hard enough to emigrate to Spain before brexshit, dont know what its like now. I found it best to learn enough language for police interview regarding residency, show proof of health insurance , income, and bank statements. Buy a small house in a town away from brits and their foul opinions, pay property tax, register padron at town hall, pay local taxes, engage a gestor to file income tax, ensure prior to leaving plague island that you have an N.I.E number, this can be obtained from the Spanish Consul in Liverpool, you cannot buy anything above a toaster without one. The police will keep your passport and check for any irregularities. Learn the language, english is useless here, local folk are more than happy to help with this, but be prepared for some funny mickey taking when you get it wrong. Join in fiestas swap vegetables with your neighbours, get used to the fact that your small terrace is your new living room and always respect your local Italian grandma who will show you how Italian cooking feeds a large family . Then live your new life, albeit small ,happily and carefree, respect by the way is a two way street here, its called give it and expect it . Much love from the EU and Gran Canaria.

I have British friends living in France, they did everything right and they can stay in France till they die. They have a France driving license too.
They told me that they knew what to do and just did it.
No problem whatsoever!
