MINI REBUILD PART 15 (door framing and filling the wall back up ) – Portuguese House Renovation

We are in the middle of renovating our house in an abandoned Portuguese village. Currently we are working on the mini rebuild. In this episode i start with the door framing to get the cement for the sides on. Also i am filling one wall back up from the parts that broke of during the straitening. In the next episode i will try to frame the rest of the door and get the other wall filled back up. Also i still need to clean the roof tiles.

My name is Jasper and i bought a house in a Portuguese ghost town. Together with my dogs Zoey& Akira we show you the rebuild of our house en what it is like living the daily life in Central Portugal.

  1. Hi Jasper sorry about the batton situation, better to treat them yourself. Buy a few in for your main house roof too, treat them later when you have extra hands. Do what you need now for the mini build. Concrete floor polish and seal,it looks good and is practical. Loved the morning dew pictures, everything is so fresh at that time. The short out bursts of running will get longer, keeps the girls fit too. Rendering the edges, filling in the holes, it's all looking good Jasper. Enjoy the rest of your day. We had a bout of thunder, lighting and rain last night…we must of got your weather or they have been cloud seeding again. Stay safe, see your gorgeous self tomorrow.

  2. Just a suggestion….as you fill in each section of concrete instead of only tapping the frame to remove the air pockets. Use your sander( the palm section [not the actual sanding section] )….to vibrate the board. Working from bottom to top as you go.
    Enjoying the build.
You may want to place your order for battens for the other roof now to insure availability when you need them.

  3. Large crack above window lintel, due to no supporting above lintel., It's weak and dangerous, you can try to hide it, but will work its way loose as it has done in few days.
It's not stable, at the stable.
It would be sad to see whole project, wall window, roof to crash down and of course to leak.
    Wish you the best.
But time to repair the large issue while you still can before, window , door, and tile install.

  4. You again accomplished a lot on this beautiful day … and Zoe is back in the picture. Nice to see you enjoying and sharing the good life amidst all the suffering that we see around us daily. BTW: what about that house you were going to show us in case the mini project is not finished on time to house the anticipated arrival of the editor?

  5. Looks like you modified the cement forming process a bit and I think your method is very effective…one board at a time vs the form you made with Alex. 👍

  7. Since the head room is so low in the mini rebuild; maybe it would be a good idea to paint a couple of coats of epoxy on the floor, instead of wood or tiles. It also makes it very easy to clean & seals in the concrete too… just a thought – keep up the good work
