MINI REBUILD PART 21 (sort of like this..fixing battens) – Portuguese House Renovation

We are in the middle of renovating our house in an abandoned Portuguese village. Currently we are working on the mini rebuild. In this episode i try to work out further how i need to space out the battens to get the desired result. I like an overhang on all sides and don’t want to cut tiles if not necessary. Also the garden still needed to be finish. For fun.. i do i short quad ride through the forst with the new Gopro on my head 🙂 In the next episode i will probably be cleaning roof tiles..

My name is Jasper and i bought a house in a Portuguese ghost town. Together with my dogs Zoey& Akira we show you the rebuild of our house en what it is like living the daily life in Central Portugal.

  1. Hi Jasper, roofing in heat is a bind. Early morning start, walk the girls evening. We can wait for your video. Loved the quad ride,it felt as if we were right on the bike with you. Have a good weekend, your yard looks much better, just needs around your olive trees trimming. Stay safe.

  2. It is not easy doing a renovation project by yourself. It will go faster if you can get Duete there this summer and maybe Sis to help with the interior of the house and the camera man/editor to help with the filming

  3. Dizzying, shaky and blurry, out of focus filming. Hope that wasn't your new editor. Better luck next time.
Nice view from the rooftop. That ruin next to the shed you're working on doesn't look salvageable at all.

  4. Почему мусорщикам не оставляете вино?Вы тогда их очень приятьно удивили.Наверно они каждый раз с надеждой подезжает к вашему дому

  5. I’d be worried the front wall of the building came down, your concrete lintels aren’t sitting on much, plus the weight of the roof , I would be getting those walls sorted before you start working on a door and window

  6. The gardens looking much better…nice work. I love the tunes you play, it makes me wanna get up and have a good dance. Thanks for the quad ride that was really cool, it was like being on a playstation game 😉 the skid was ACE!!🤪☺🤗

  7. Watching you "weed-whacking" the grass, I noticed that there are a lot of plants with blue flowers. Are they borage? Looking at the amount of grass, that's pure gold for composting. Not that you will have time for gardening soon, but that when you are ready, you will have some rich soil to use. If the blue flowers are borage, it indicates some great mineral content deep in the ground–also excellent compost.

Just a couple of thoughts for the future–and suggestions in case you have some volunteers wondering what they can do.
I know if I were visiting, I'd be working away pruning olive trees!

One thing I'm curious about. As far as I can tell, your ghost town doesn't have any public buildings. No market place, stores, offices or churches. That strikes me as a bit strange.

  8. 8:56 oh my god I cannot believe how dirty those tiles are, can you imagine anyone putting them up on the roof, it's so embarrassing.
If it was me I'd spend a lot of time cleaning them before I put them up😆😁😄
