  1. With both countries being so magically beautiful, and buying property being at the top of our priorities list, we’ve compiled a list of pro's and con's to help organize our thoughts and guide us towards a decision, so here it is! Along with an inside look of our favorite property thus far ✨ xx, Britt and Drew

  2. Things like Costco exist but you do need to have a local business in order to buy there. Not sure how it works in US but in Costco in UK you also had to have a business to get a card. One example is Recheio Cash & Carry.
I totally agree about Portugal! We traveled around Europe and Portugal also just feels right for us!

  3. You two are amazing!! I love you both!!! As long as you both are happy, together, and safe, I'm behind yas 100% thank you for sharing your lives with all of us!!! See y'all next time!❤☺

  4. I’ve only been in the airport in Portugal, but I’ve spent a lot of time (& money) in Baja and I’m
happy to hear of your decision. Separate subject – I have USA & UK citizenship and I just think it’s cool!

  5. Glad you mentioned climate change, all this driving and flying, limiting your carbon emissions should be part of the calculus. it is very scary whats happening now with our weather.

  6. You didn't mention health care which would be important if you are thinking about a family or staying there as you grow older. I understand health care in Portugal in very good and almost free. Some factors have to be weighted. Safety and police corruption would outweigh all other factors to me such as food, friendliness and natural beauty especially if a family is involved. I was involved in a small incident in Mexico which was resolved but it made me realize how vulnerable I was to the local police and how powerless I felt. Here we have police, courts, appeals, more courts etc. and we take their impartiality for granted (whether that is true or not depends on a lot of things but in Mexico you are definitely at a disadvantage).

  7. Great that you seem to have made up your minds! We're still in the "what if there's something better" phase, but we're pretty sure that one day we'll settle down as well. Who knows, we might become neighbours 😁😎

  8. Wooo Hooo – sounds like you made a great decision and you have lots of exciting times ahead – and we hope bumping into us is one of them 😂 💖 and remember you also have lots of friends in Europe xx

  9. YES wore sandals for first time May long weekend. Going RV'ing this week … between now and Sept we r taking 6 different trips from Ontario to Alberta Waterton National Park where the mountains begin. Loving the warmth. Also love your warm and adventurous personalities. You'll find way 🏡 when time is just right 🇨🇦

  10. Thank you for sharing your Baja experience with us. I had no idea how beautiful it was, and there were so many nice people, and the food! But Portugal is really fantastic, especially given your stage of life. I don't know much about the real estate system there, but do they include hazard maps in the home inspection documents? Given the extreme weather we have lately around the world, checking for landslides/flood areas/etc., might be a good idea, just to know and to shore up if need be. Enjoy your fabulous journey!

  11. I am Portuguese and I live in the US. I married a Police Officer 7 years ago. My husband retired and we went to Portugal for a visit….lol. My husband felt so safe in Portugal and after the first week of being there, he said to me. I want to live here. Lets move ASAP. We just bought a house in the Alentejo and we are moving next year.

  12. Pretty sure you've chosen Portugal, and I agree with your pro/con list. However, you cut Mexico short. There is amazing country to explore and cultures to experience across the Sea of Cortez. And for friends and family to visit, it's a LOT cheaper to travel to Mexico than Portugal. Looking forward to your adventure to Portugal. ; >)
