The film commences with friends and family of an ailing village head, Malaichami (Sivaji Ganesan), gathered around him on his death bed. The plot then moves along in a series of flashbacks, featuring significant episodes of the dying man’s life. These include the presence of a boatman’s young daughter Kuyil (Radha) in his village. The protagonist is unhappily married to a quarrelsome wife named Ponnatha (Vadivukkarasi), and seeks comfort and solace in a friendship with Kuyil. The friendship raises eyebrows, and is socially awkward and complicated for both Malaichami and Kuyil. I have seen this movie maybe be at the age of 12-15 and even at that time it was my favourite movie and even today it’s my favourite movie … at the young age I didn’t understand any feeling of relationships shown in this movie but still i felt something deep … I think it’s because of Raja sir … he went deep inside me

But after seeing this movie I realised in older days they demanded that kind of acting Wat is great is after practising exaggerated acting for soo many years re adjusting to current era acting style is not easy at all … he pulled it like a pro master … hats off to him … Radha stood just opposite to Shivaji sir and. Sometimes she pulled more attention on her over Shivaji sir , it’s something that many in the world can do … wat a expression ne acting from Radha … not to forget Raja sir .. no words for him he elevates baratni Raja sir direction and Shivaji sir acting to next level
