  1. On your raised bed it’s great to put branches , twigs, wood chips, any material that will break down and enrich your compost, also great for water retention, and decomposition creates heat for seedlings

  2. Hi you guys Zack making a mess again sloppy barman ha ha but must be great eating and drinking outside.that’s a big rat in that roof where’s there one there are more so be careful Zack.

  3. Can you not get a lit for the water barrel? If not you could buy some mesh from the hardware store (like they use on screen doors) and make a cover by stapling it to a timber frame.

  4. Oh mate roses lime for margaritas? No no no. Triple sec is what is mostly used in margs . Look up Lula Cochina restaurant Santa Monica. That’s our family’s Mexican restaurant and how we make them is as follows. Freshly squeezed lime juice 2 fluid oz , remember you need juicing limes as the other types are plithy and have very little juice and of different tastes . 1 1/2 jiggers tequila, 1/2 -3/4 jigger of triple sec and shake . We prepare gallons in advance every morning.
If you can find Grand Mariner liqueur , that’s premium Quantro and it’s called a Cadillac Margarita, you can also float that on top . Pricey for sure . White tequilas are what we use . Good luck and adjust to taste .

  5. You need a cover on that barrel for sure, mosquitos will breed in a footprints worth of standing water.

Treat the water to kill the skeeters you already have in there.

I'd also try befriending a local outdoor Gato, to control your mole problem!

Good to see you guys enjoying life even if it is supermarket sushi it's still sushi 👍😋

  6. Funny, when you said "Back at the cold frame" I immediately said to myself "Back at the Coal Face" 🙂

I'm Rat phobic they make my skin crawl, but I must admit he's a cute little bugger!

As an Ex-Pat in Florida thinking about relocating to Portugal, I have serious question about supplies. How is the Tea- Bag situation, out there, are British Tea-Bags available Yorkshire Tea or even PGTips

  7. I noticed the gutters on the out building. You could use it for rain water harvesting to water the garden. Duh made my comment before I got to the section where you showed the rain water haverster! Great minds think alike!

  8. Go to the nearby woods and get some twigs and decomposing leaves together with some dirt ,all from under the trees , into your raised beds , then you can add the compost you bought , much better and cheaper .

  9. I’m like you. I love my cocktails. My Cointreau does not last long at my house. I love Margaritas but right now I’m hooked on Cosmopolitan,s. Your drinks look delicious.

  10. Standing water does attract mosquitos. You both looked good at the wedding and l love cocktails too. I'm watching this vlog while having a gin & soda:)

  11. So nice to see your fam and you having a great time. Thanks for taking us along and sharing your sushi joy 😊.

Water barrel should be covered. I read a bit of any cooking oil prevents the larvae from veing able to emerge? Tried it myself with our french drain and no mozzies so far this summer 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Wise of you to invest in the chicken wire for your no-dig beds. And congrats, residents! 🥳

  12. Hahaha, being from Arizona, I always love the look on peoples faces when they take their first swig of tequila! Well done 👍🏽
Yes, yes and yes, you have a mosquito ranch on your hands with all that that standing water in the barrel during the hot summer days.
Great video and what looked like a wonderful wedding!

  13. Lovely video, nice and varied. Glad you had a lovely time at the wedding and you are settling in well. The sushi made me really hungry. Its been ages since I had some! On my shopping list for tomorrow😂

  14. For the raised bed, fill the bottom half with other organic matter, before adding the compost. Start with a layer of logs or tree cuttings, then add grass clippings, dried leaves etc. You only need a small layer of compost. The bottom layers will eventually rot and form soil and are also good for water retention. Don't chuck out the water from the Farrell. Just put a couple spoons of olive oil in it, enough to make a film over the top, and the mosquitos won't be able to breed. Better still, cover it.

  15. For your raised bed its not a good idea to fill it up with just compost. Put a layer of old wood and twigs in the bottom. Fill it up at least half way with layers of grass clippings, old hay or straw, leaves, paper or torn cardboard and manure. Basically anything you have lying around or can lay your hand on that will compost down. Give it a good soaking then top it up with your bought compost, then plant up. In time it will settle down and rot, just top it up again over the winter with compostable material. That way you will get balanced, nutrient dense soil that will not dry out too quickly. Mulch your plants with grass that will add to the soil in time but will also stop the water evaporating.
Your uncovered water barrel is the perfect hotel for mosquito lavae. It just needs a lid with hole in for the down pipe.
