Join me for a calm and relaxing walk through my farm in October ´22 to show how things have grown and changed in the last month and whats happening with the fruit trees, veggie garden, olives and vineyard.
October the farm is adorned in its full autumn colours. Another storm has hit us in the last week bringing much needed rain and a two week rainfall. Nearly one week into the rain and sadly my well’s water levels has not yet increased.
With the very odd weather, most things on the farm have sprouted new leaves and growth and one would be forgiven thinking it is spring, not autumn! It is especially noticeable on the vines.
If all goes well the olive harvest will be in November 🙂
Enjoying the journey? Consider buying me a cup of coffee 🙂
About Girl Meets Farm:
I’m Christine. I started this journey in search of my forever farm in Portugal, and now I have found it!
This is my adventure as a solo expat on a farm in Central Portugal with my two fur-kids, Shakti & Shiva.
I’ve never owned or lived on a farm, but moved to Portugal in the hope of fulfilling a life-long dream of finding open space, subsistence farming and a safer, better life.
Now that we have found our farm, the second stage of our journey begins!
I have to figure out farm life while renovating an agricultural structure to make it habitable and turn it into a comfortable home for me and my furkids.
Thank you for joining our journey!

Hello there, just found your channel now after your nice message to us. Farm looks very nice, beautiful colors of autumn everywhere. Have an awesome weekend.
👍🌼👍
Thanks so much for the new word…petrichor! I’ve never heard it used until now.
Christine, how's the wine making going?
💕It’s so beautiful when the leaves on tree’s start to change colour as one season ends & another begins💕
Under the circumstances, you did good. In a year ,or so ,you’ll have everything pretty much under control.
I thought it was just my grape vines that looked dead!
🌟🍀💐
The Autumn colors of your vineyard are beautiful…enjoy your down time..fingers crossed your renovations pick up soon.
I won’t lie I was disappointed With the video content. I really was anxious about the build progress. All we saw was some olives that are ripening, I like the scenery but in Canada we have no shortage of pretty scenery. Anyways thanks for the video.
Thanks for touring us in your farm Christine. 😊😊😊 I love quiet place far from the noise of the city.💕💕💕 Take care
So peaceful. Stay well.
The farm looks Beautiful in the fall. Who will harvest the olives? I have seen them harvested by knocking them from the tree with large paddles and collected onto pieces of canvas. How will you collect yours. Will you have them pressed for the oil? Also you have a nice crop of oranges that will soon be ready to harvest. Will you sell them to the co op? Loved the tour. Stay well.
How lovely to walk through your farm 'alongside ' you!
Autumn colours of vines are beautiful.
Olives looking good and ripening fast now. Going to be a good yield.
The oranges are growing so well … and so many, too!
Most enjoyable!
I love your videos especially the house renovation ones 😉 I'm always waiting 🙂
Lovely 🥰
😁
Lovely video, nice to have a look around ❤️
So sorry to hear your renovation couldn't advance during this week. I suppose that if we are so excited about it, it must be worse for you. But anyway this rain is a blessing after the big drought. Your farm is beautiful with the autumn's colours. Have a good week.
‘tis the season of mellow fruitfulness, it appears.😊
Hello..!!!how many square meters is your farm???what are you doing with your products???do you sell them to earn some money??i m asking about economical survival of the farm in a foreig country and not only for joy.cheers…
It'll take some more rain before the water gets deep enough to refill the aquifer. But, it's amazing how quickly plants bounce back after a bit of rain. Like you said, after a bit of rain it can look like spring rather than autumn.
The farm looks great!
Everything comes with time. Beautiful colors on your farm. We start with spring now. Different seasons different vibe
1 whole year Wow!
Hi Chris, renovations can’t be helped, no one can control the weather. Can’t believe you’ve been in Portugal for a year, how times fly. Hope you’ve got some long Johns for the winter months, I’ve got two pairs. Look great in mine !!! 😂😂 I had a great crop of apples myself this year, they are cooking apples, lots of my neighbours are enjoying them, but still lots left. Lots of love ❤ as usual Tony
How lovely the colors of fall are on your property. The citrus should be quite juicy with all the rain that you’re getting. Looking forward to seeing the renovations.
Wooooow
