OMG!! They TRASHED our AirBnB | Dominican Republic

Today, I’m sharing my first bad experience managing Airbnbs here in Santo Domingo. It just amazes me how people can come to your place and trash it and not have the decency about themselves. I learned a valuable lesson with this booking.

  1. So sorry to hear that your Airbnb got trashed but unfortunately some people don’t treat their vacation rentals like they do their own residence. Karma has no deadline & trust & believe they will get theirs

  2. Be careful ! Anyone can get a credit 💳 card .
Your house 🏠 is nice rent it at minimal days. Make sure you get your money worth . & There bad 😞 people .

I experience this in Toronto airbnb

  3. Norberis, I can see you have a beautiful home and take pride in your home. I believe the word you were searching for is ‘violated’ . You rented to people in good faith, and they in turn disrespected you and your property. I would feel frustrated and violated too.

  4. Yeah I agree with what JazzyJag said. They person who rented the AirBNB should've been charged for the damages. This is the second time I seen (1st time) or heard that (this time) of something like this happening and I don't know if the people were held accountable for the damages. Thank you for sharing this experience because I actually want in on this business of buying a place in Latin America and renting it out and wow this had to be very stressful. I can't imagine trying to be a good host and excited at the opportunity to make money and end up spending a lot of unnecessary money because of such things like what they put you through

  5. Fuerza. Every bad experience is a learning lesson moving forward and karma will reward you and spite those that did you wrong.

Keep going and grow your business ventures💪🏿💪🏿

  6. I'm sorry to hear what happened. These types of guests can be screened. Read the reviews that they have received from other Airbnb host. Usually they have behaved this way before and someone will write a review telling you what type of guest they are. This way you can deny or not approve their request. Also install cameras outside the house to see who is coming in and out of your place. You should also request a payment for all of the damages that you noticed when they left. Definitely report them to Airbnb and please write a review so that other hosts can be aware. The reservation is for the person who booked with you. They should be responsible for the damages as well. Please put up cameras.

  7. So sorry
You did the right thing by taking photos and documenting everything. That person who book the house is responsible and will have to pay. Also i suggest adding few security cameras around the house.

  8. I'm sorry you had that bad experience. I come out to Santo Domingo all the time and I'm always respectful to the airbnb host. I'm just like you with the cleaning. My friend would tell me to stop the host has a cleaning service , but I still do it because that's how I am. The guest should have been straight with how many people were staying instead of lying about it

  9. Put in the disclaimer that who ever rents the unit must stay at the property , next have security so they can monitor the house . The also add if they have additional people stay they risk there reservation being canceled . Also idk if you can do this but when I just stayed in Sosua they took a cash deposit that we go back when we left . They took 600.00 that we got back when we left help this helps

  10. Last week I rented an apartment in Cocotal Bavaro. 2nd time in this apartment. 1st stay, a year ago, awesome. New apartment. A year later, there was a large cigarette burn hole on the patio chair and what looked like a kids crayon drawing on the wall. Overall, still a nice place, but I didn’t expect that in one year. I don’t
Think I’d buy a place and rent it. People don’t care. On a different note, all of the building in the punta cana area feels like a house of cards. Too many apartments going up that people will use as an investment property. This is going to cause problems. For example: Cocotal is beautiful once you drive inside to where the houses are. But all of that low end apartment/condo building around the interior perimeter looks like a bad deal for home owners. Any thoughts on that?

  11. Norberis, it’s unfortunate but there will always be someone who doesn’t respect themselves or the place. That’s why you want to have insurance. But beyond that, you need to install a couple of security cameras. One showing the front entrance and another in the parking area. Then you can spot unusual activity and notify the renter right away. Other than that, you have to trust your instincts. That’s really unfortunate but it may not be the last. Just take precautions for next time.

  12. You should have a camera at the entrance gate. It is 100% legal. Just be sure to put it in your Airbnb as a disclosure. Your cam will notify you anytime someone enters the camera grid. If you see multiple unknown intruders notify the person booking the house and inform them that they are violating the house policy and if not corrected you will notify Airbnb to have the booking voided (Airbnb will support you). Be a gracious and good Host to those that deserve the best hospitality. But to those that are disrespecting your policy etc. be polite but firm and lay down the law. Remember it’s your property and do not permit vandalism.

  13. WOWW. This is the reason why I never rented my house out as an AirBNB. Many tried to convince me to do so and I almost fail for it until I started hearing the horror stories.
It is good your daughter was with you because I know you probably would of gone ghetto on them when you went over there. lol
I have done the AIRBNB thing twice in the D.R. and make it a point to leave it spotless.
I would be livid if that happened to me.

  14. I hate and despise people who act as such just because they believe they can. Can the local police do anything? Are there repercussion to those people who destroy or damage your property. Owning an airbnb, what type of protections do you have or what can the company do for you? Is there an insurance plan for this? There has to be something legally that can be done or a precaution that can be put in place for things like this.

  16. I feel your pain, it’s the reason why I’m hesitant to pull the trigger on being an Airbnb host. If I do it will be small
Units, one bedrooms. Will Airbnb insurance cover the damage they left?

Pa my fue 20. Te estaban hablando diparate y cojiendote de pendeja. Esos eran unos infelices que nadamas van a joder un parto y no tienen respecto a nada…Eso me un pique k-ra-ho…

  18. I am starting my first Airbnb in punta cana next year. Can any veterans here recommend property management company? I live in us and cannot be in dr frequently. This video is every owner’s nightmare.

  19. Some people… I remember in our second Airbnb in Santo Domingo Este, the coffee table was loose, so the first thing we did when we took the apartment was to just move the table away and put it back when we left .. But many people just do not care
