are you saying they dont check if you are still resident in the UK? They grant you residency just based on a lease? I thought it was illegal to be resident in two countries at the same time?

Hi! I'm thinking of moving from London and am in Lisbon right now. My bank is Santander in the UK which has branches here in Portugal. Can I just move my account address here rather than setting up a new one?
That way I could rent a flat first and move my account here afterwards?

Hello from Chicago! I've just found your channel . We are planning to move to Portugal as soon as the borders are open to Americans. My husband has a Luxemburg passport and I'm an American/Brazilian. So, we may follow the same procedure that Gilda is saying, am I right? We are having the NIF done by a Portuguese lawyer, but I didn't quite understand this "text" number that we need. Thank you for the excellent information.
