The Portuguese government has recently announced a new visa for non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens, targeted toward the digital nomad community. The visa will allow digital nomads to stay or settle for a certain period of time in Portugal.

*In order to make it easier, visa applicants can also apply at the Portuguese Consulate in their country of origin.

Some of the requirements to get the visa are:
– Be able to live and work in Portugal for up to 12 months with 6 months as minimum stay (per year);
– Be self-employed or employed by a company based outside Portugal;
– Need to earn more than 2.800€ per month;
– Unlike the D7 visa, the applicant must have an active income (through remote work).
