I'll never forget the scene of a Cape Hatteras beach littered with hundreds of purple hued Man of War in 1978.
Wow. Bless the Creator GOD , spirit of mystery.
I got to retire in Boca Raton back in 2013 I was a beach bum for the next four years and moved out when rent skyrocketed. I did notice one thing, Florida wasn't the Sunshine State anymore! The weather pattern has definitely shifted!! More and more I realized it was a good time to leave the beach is just too polluted
Bluebottles in Australia
Great info specially about the name
you get what you give? ain't karma a bitch?
I hope I ain’t the the only person who wants to just pop it .,.
I bet I'm not the only one who wants to pop it by stomping on it…..Right ? And what is it inflated with. Air, explosive gas, Nitrous oxide ? Inquiring minds need to know.
This would make a great Netflix horror film
Hawaii gets them every month 8-12 days after the full moon…
HOW DO BLUEBOTTLES MAKE THE NEWS from australia
In Panamá we have the big jellyfish, that really hurts it is so painful..
I almost touched it while taking a walk on the beach, but I am glad I didn’t … it’s funny how the most beautiful creatures tend to be the deadliest
I got stung as a kid in India. The poison crept up my leg for hours. My dad got stung by two of them. They were babies along the beach, mass landing. We were both in separate beds in the same room, moaning in pain for the whole day. Worst pain ever! it felt like a snake bite venom. Thank god I am still here!
Blue bottles are the baby versions of Man o' War. Blue bottles have an air filled sac or swim bladder and a long tail which stings.
They are elderitch creatures here to curse us.
Jeezus, talk with your hands much? SMH
Dragon Quest players out there getting them XP points!
People are the most dangerous!!!! 2022
Grew up in Melbourne. They're seasonal, and swim by at certain times. They close the beaches when they come through, but there are always some stragglers. Saw a guy get tangled in them once….he was writhing in pain, and they were literally poring bottles of rubbing alcohol on his huge welts going around his chest …..ouch.
Ahh blue bottles. I definitely WOULD NOT USE VINEGAR AND HOT WATER you use luke warm light cold water.
If it's not a Man o' war it's a "block" man slitting the throats of white people riding their bikes home………………………………..
In South Africa we call it "Blue Bottles", been stung a few times and it is really painful. One left a scar on my arm as a child and it took years to disappear. Fortunately I never had an allergic reaction to it because it is known that people died after being stung.
A golden opportunity here. Fence in the PMOW's. Bring all of the caught illegal aliens to them and toss them in.
There was a ton washed up at Carolina beach
I'm from north of the border. In 1970 I was there with my parents visiting my uncle. We were out in his boat one day and I jumped in for a swim. While I was in the water my uncle yelled man o' war so I started looking for a ship, he quickly told me to get out of the water. He showed me what he was yelling about explained to me how the man o' war could ruin my vacation.
A person has not lived life to its fullest until he has gotten Portuguese Man-O-War tentacles wrapped around him. An experience that you will never forget; 60 years in my case.
The Portuguese are going to war against us!!!!
I watched a show about Australia the Portuguese man o war they called them bluebottles and the sting you and they say it hurts up to an hour they say when sting use vinegar and they say you can use pee to try to ease the pain
Will my booster protect me?
Just pop the bubble .
For the Australian’s the Portuguese Man O War and the Blue Bottles Are Not The Same! The Man O war is larger and far more venous which means excruciating pain.
I will tell you that the pain can go to eleven! I was stung on the thigh and the pain was so ad I had to bite something to keep from screaming. I had a big scar on my leg for decades. Be careful!
Someone tell the Portuguese Man o’ war that rents went up by a lot, so they can choose to pay premium or go somewhere else
Hahaha! Ah, Blue Bottles! We get these often on our beaches in South Africa. When we get stung by one we exit the water, piss on the sting and go right back to swimming. I'm laughing that this actually made the news somewhere in the world. 😂
In Australia these are called "Bluebottles" they do sting and hurt but are not too bad as in it won't kill you.
I get stung almost every month in Hawaii,,, not as bad as some are saying.
I need one for my aquarium
I’m used to step on these and pop them all the time on St. George Island. Or at least I think they were these. I never got stung by them tho.
A who?
they native to Aussie
Our guide on a snorkeling outing told us the leatherback turtles purposely eat them cause they know it will get them stoned🥺
They are simply swimming around in their natural habitat, THEIR HOME. Leave the poor things alone.
4 years ago I went to Daytona Beach and I couldn't even swim because there was so many jellyfish in the water in February
