Rental prices are going up because of many different factors. For us, the taxes went up dramatically, so rent must go up as well.
In Virginia, someone that I know had to move out of state with kids and live with another family and husband had to stay and work because apartment price shot ip from around $800/$900 to $1800.

Another rent issue: 2 friends, one in Iowa, one in Arizona, both on low income. Their homes were 'legally condemned' and forced to move out. In Iowa, she is near 60 yrs of age…outside in freezing temps, sleeping in her car n all monthly funds go to gas for heat.
In Arizona, thankfully the temps are a little better but…homeless…both and so heartbreaking cause family cannot even afford to help.
So those being brought in on "midnite flights" get housing, education, food etc…
