Relocate: Episode 1 – Lisbon (Part 1/4)

VW presents a four part series that explores the hopes, dreams and realities of moving abroad.

New Year, new start, new city? Follow DJ, producer and NTS radio presenter Nabihah Iqbal as she explores the opportunities and burgeoning cultural scenes in Lisbon and Leipzig. Despite living in London her entire life, Nabihah is questioning whether it’s still the city for her and she’s not alone. 323,000 people emigrated from Britain last year and with spiralling costs of living, contrasted with the perceived better quality of life elsewhere, it’s easy to see why.

In episode one, Nabihah meets creatives who have already made the move, relocating from London to Lisbon, and makes herself at home in the city’s thriving music scene.

  2. Lisbon is suffering from severe gentrification because of wealthy foreigners and tourists coming to live there. The locals are being driven out because of this and the culture is starting to fade away.

  3. Great to see appreciation of Lisbon and its vibe. 😁☀️
I wanted to share my Lisbon travel series, In the Mood For Lisbon: @
I recently moved here in this city, really wanted to share my passion for this city. Enjoy!

  4. I'm going to Lisbon and Porto this summer, is there anyone with tips where should i definitely go?(restaurants, parks, places to go out, everything cool really) I don't really want to go to all the touristic places.. :)))) xxxx

  5. Love the concept of this. It's especially helpful for me at the moment as I'm going through the process of narrowing down where I'd like to spend my gap year and eventually, set roots. Looking forward to the rest of the series !

  6. It's funny how when it comes, to every artist, to talk about Portugal when they first came here is how alive the crowd was on their shows, we live the concerts in a whole different way, it's amazing, it should be like that everywhere.

  7. Can't wait for the Leipzig episode. Leipzig is my hometown and the place I grew up in. I recently moved to Berlin but I miss it so much and seriously consider moving back.

  8. fuck yes! this is so cool. just what I need before I consider moving to the other side of the world, to a country i've never been to before – a taste of what it's going to be like 💙💚💛💜
