Renovations Have Started! | Demolition Week | My Central Portugal Farm #44

The time finally arrived!! Renovations have officially begun at the farm. This was demolition week. I feel like the team got so much done and things are moving. I can finally see my vision for the space come to life before my eyes!

The big structural granite wall comes down, and the asbestos sheeting is removed.

Enjoying the journey? Consider buying me a cup of coffee or a roof tile to help save up for the new roof 🙂

About Girl Meets Farm:
I’m Christine. I started this journey in search of my forever farm in Portugal, and now I have found it!

This is my adventure as a solo expat on a farm in Central Portugal with my two fur-kids, Shakti & Shiva.
I’ve never owned or lived on a farm, but moved to Portugal in the hope of fulfilling a life-long dream of finding open space, subsistence farming and a safer, better life.

Now that we have found our farm, the second stage of our journey begins!
I have to figure out farm life while renovating an agricultural structure to make it habitable and turn it into a comfortable home for me and my furkids.

Thank you for joining our journey!

  1. Wow, you made great progress, it just show when you get reliable contractors how quickly you can progress with your project. I am excited to see the next step. Fingers crossed for you Christine 🙂

  2. Great job!! Just make sure you're wearing a mask when you're around the building works as when they're removing the asbestos it won't come off cleanly so you'll have asbestos dust around and on the stonework and rubble dust etc, so would be an idea to limit your exposure and wear a mask until it's all cleared as the asbestos fibres could be in the air and will be on the floor and stonework etc. (Also for the dog sniffing around!) Keep it wet/hose down and then get it cleared up by someone I reckon (if it was me) to make sure I'm not breathing it in as it's once it's disturbed and dry it's airborne and dangerous.. (once it's cleared, hose down properly anything you're keeping/remains in place get it cleaned and removed safely so no dust). When it's wet it won't get airborne so easily. It also gets stuck in fibres of clothes so again try to avoid it until its finished if that's at all possible?
Great job though it's going to look fantastic!! Granite Corners will be fantastic! Great job!!
    Cheers from London 👍👌🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
