We bought a 17 hectare (that is 42 acre) magical piece of land here in Central Portugal with beautiful boulders and 500 metres of river that borders it for just €58,000 back in 2018 . We are renovating a massive beautiful ruin and finishing our tiny house which is a gypsy style caravan .Tired of being a part of the rat race and constantly chasing our tails, Luke and I decided to leave our home country in search of a simpler more rewarding way of life and we found it in this paradise that is Portugal where we have been living for the last 4 years off grid and debt free. We make videos about our experiences living as total beginners and take you along on our journey with the aim to reach self-sufficiency in the near future , we upload a new episode every Sunday and our topics cover our everyday life living off-grid. We love putting these videos together and through these videos we hope to inspire you to go after your dreams and help create more awareness to the well-being of our planet. 1. Incredible. Both, clearing out the ruin( it is big – quite 'the mansion' ) and the amount of ticks and flees you groom from Molly. I hope you check yourself. I suppose any sort of ticks could give you Lyme's disease. That's why it's important to keep the tall grass along the pathways trimmed down and back and why Guineafowl are important to keep. But unless you can tame them, they are pretty wild and locking them up overnight, almost impossible.

  2. That is quite a large ruin. It should be pretty awesome when it is restored. Those goats are funny characters. The cat and dog are great fun too. It shows that all animals have personalities. 🙂👍👍👍

  3. Love the intro…. does remind me of something… Timmy (lion) rowing… but could be mistaking… 😉

And love how meatball loves to stick It’s head in a hole an twist….. let’s call it the “meatball move” will be popular in a few years … in the breakdance culture… 😉let’s do the meatball move… 😉

And Luke love your attention to detail on making the sign above the fence …. Alway’s improve… !!!!!

And love to see how you cleared out the ruin …….. now in 2 hour’s I’ll be done surveying the building … 😉

Great job… … ahhh …..and buy the way… about those tiles you found in ruin is that 50.000 bitcoins …or Zimbabwaanse dollar? Because if it is Zimbabwaanse dollar… I’ll take 100 tiles… 😉

    Thua Dirk

  4. Great vlog. What are you going to do with Meatball once you have baby goats??
Loving seeing the ruin cleared, now you can wander round it planning it all in your head. If only it could be rebuilt in a weekend 😀
You are going to have the poshest veggie garden ever with that lovely fence and the add ons. So gutted for Luke with that hidden nail damaging his new chain.
You are going to be Ms Dolittle when you add the piggies into the mix!
Have a great week guys. Keep on clearing!! LOL

  5. Great video guys really funny to watch the whole gang 🤪 have a great time. The best wishes ☀️🌴❤🇵🇹 the house has really huge potential with great views from the surroundings

  6. A glazed conservatory at that latitude would warm the house in winter but would make the whole house unbearable in summer. Might be better to take loads of cuttings from the fig until you roof the room over. It is worth noting that type of fig loves to grow it's roots into rock / rubble the deeper the better

  7. Exciting stuff, looks ace a few things i would like to share firstly Cider vinegar works great for rust, soak for 24 hours and removes all rust, can also add molasses to make a rust removing paste, and will need to rinse and oil straight away as flash rust appears o the surface.. also the movement i the walls is probably due to lack of roof washing out the cob/lime between stones and the wall drops slightly, but that lintel needs attention.. great work guys.. build that dream.. an inspiration to many x

  8. Hazel ☘️ …
The rooms in your future home are big … just as well you have been scavenging around picking up bits and pieces of furniture !

You are coming on leaps and bounds !

Oh a baby goat (or two?) … how long before the birth ?
… you have piggies coming too
… wow you will have such fun training them all Sarah !

I’ll mention again … I love the fence 😍 … the gate and carving is amazingly beautiful 🤩
    Have a great week … 🙏☘️😘

  9. Hello, Luke and Sarah. What a nice job you have made in your farm. Just a little help: BEM- VINDO is written with a hyphen, a small orthographic detail of the Portuguese language that even many Portuguese people ignore. "Bem vindo" is an error; the correct is BEM-VINDO.

  10. There is nothing wrong with cement render. (Like millions of other buildings)
Don't do it Luke, just a heap of unneccesary work. The lime thing is for old men in cardigans (and hippies)

  11. Great video. Working in the animals keep the videos light and interesting. Luke I love the fence and especially the gate. Seems like your woodworking skills get better by the day….lovely. Y’all make a great team 😀
