The next place I'll be covering in The US Explained is the District of Columbia! To all my subscribers from DC, please reply to fill me in on what I need to know about your home, such as unique food, traditions, places, some fun facts and local dialects and pronunciations! I can't promise everything will make it into the video, but I will try my best, and I'm looking forward to getting started!
Good, interesting video. The map showing at 10:23 has Massachusetts misspelled.
update: the RI state house has one of the largest SELF-SUPPORTED marble domes on earth.
as far as the population goes if they deduct the illegals there's only 20 citizens living there.
"the welfare state" also known as "tax hell".
I live in Rhode Island and I work pest control can confirm you can cover the entire state in about an hour
Rhode Island is soooo boring
U r wrong about Cianci as well!!!
Best mayor evah!!!👍
Can confirm, we are unique people
Tf green is actually in Warwick, I’m right next to it and have to hear the planes alllll day ! It’s 100% not in providence 🙂 !
Loved the video ❤️
I thought the state landfill was the highest point in Rhode Island, something like 864 ft.
Its good to see ppl taking it upon themselves to teach ppl about our history as a nation. The school system is not only a joke , but dangerous and a national security issue IMO .
My wife and I were born, raised, and still live in Rhode Island and we feel you did a flawless job with your video. Thank you!
Buddy didn't kidnap, he beat the guy his wife cheated on him with's ass.
Rhode Island born and bred , when I die ,I'll be Rhode Island dead ❤️❤️❤️
Decent video outlining RI. The burning of the Gaspee is very rarely taught in schools in RI these days but is celebrated every year with a parade and a mock burning of the Gaspee at night on the second Saturday of June. The parade starts in Warwick and ends in Cranston. It passes through Pawtuxet Village, or colloquially referred to as the “village”. Many locals, myself included, take pride in the fact that the first major act of defiance against the crown took place in RI but it often gets minimized because well most people ogle over the Boston Tea Party.
We were also one of only two states to not ratify the 18th amendment (CT being the other) and the third to ratify the 21st
Wicked nice video 😛 I'm a native Rhode Islander and if you ever visit definitely try our coffee milk (our state drink) it's to die for! Del's lemonade is sold everywhere on street corners and at festivals and not mentioned in the video is our amazing Summer festivals called Waterfires! We light bonfires on the rivers in Providence at night. Paired with fire dancers, street performers and world music it's an amazing experience!
I believe you said Connecticut Island and it should be Jamestown
I enjoyed watching your video it was really nice and I for one living Rhode Island but there's one little thing please keep Woonsocket all of this intro because that town yeah there's nothing good in that town and that town smells really bad in the restaurants in that town are full of cockroaches and rats and Woonsocket is nothing but trashy and disgusting and the people are not trying to worthless sympathetic and never amounts of nothing and there's no history in that town so the next time we do an intro about Rhode Island keep on socket out of it because when sockets useless and worthless and it's a smelly town and it stinks in this trash in the scumbags
I’ve been living here for over 9 years but I’m not exactly emotionally ‘attached’ to the state TBH. but Brooklyn NY will always have a piece of my heart ❤️ Though I have met my bestest friends here I just don’t really care about the state itself lol
Fun fact: The tallest building, “The Superman Building” is currently abandoned because of the asbestos
Love this!
I am fairly certain that the highest point in Rhode Island used to be Jerimoth Hill but is now the land fill (dump) in Johnston, RI.
KENTUCKY
Naaa forgot about the Cape Verdeans viva Cabo verdeeee🇨🇻🇨🇻🇨🇻
It's actually the "Superman" building as this was the building that was used in the original TV version of Superman that he was shown leaping over in a single bound.
Love your videos but can you make the sound louder? The ads about to blow up my ear drums turning my TV all the way up to listen to you
⚓💪We Got Grindas We got Cabinets and we got Gaggers n Coffee Milk
Came back to the "big little" on purpose.
Cianci was the best thing to happen to providence. I remember the early 80s when most of downtown was a pile of dirt. He ran the city his way and did a great job. They used to say that he would show up for the opening of a cereal box.. since his departure, he has been replaced by the typical pocket stuffing, do nothing politicians… a lot of money has moved out of the state since he left office and the economy has been on a double decade decline.
2nd highest point is the landfill (garbage dump) which nay some day eclipse jeromouth hill.
As a native Rhode Islander thank you this was so cool. Also most common question from people outside the state “is that part of Long Island?” Smh
Hey, hi, Rhode Islander here. The island next to aquidnick.. to be honest, is typically just called Jamestown, but that's just us being lazy and it being really the only thing on it
Properly pronouncing Pawtucket. Big props. The W is silent.
You forgot about our road oceans. We blow our tires out every 6 months or so. Ive literally found a family of tadpoles in one of the holes in my street
You should be able to stretch this series out for quite a bit. Every video is filled with comments of things that may have been overlooked or left out. And here is my contribution: The U.S. Naval War College. A very prestigious military command.
Another Fun Fact: Providence Fire Dept is the 2nd oldest PAID fire dept. in the country.( Baltimore MD was the 1st). Also the Broad St Fire House in South Prov. was the busiest fire house in all of New England in the mid 80's.
Though the airport code is pvd, f green airport is in warwick not providence
And it will never be the same as the 70's 80 or 90 . This place will never be the same .
if you say Washington county to a Rhode islander we will know you are an outsider. it's south county.
I am from Nevada and my favorite state is New York
Regarding the use of "bubbler":
Apparently, one of the more popular drinking fountain companies back in the day was The Bubbler Company. Their two production centers were in Rhode Island and Wisconsin, and so people in those areas started calling fountains bubblers instead, similar to Band-Aid brand bandages
The Gatsby was burned in Warwick
