Roofing in Portugal, How hard can it be…?

Work starts at full pace on our mountain top, off grid, tiny Portuguese house. Sarah has worked so hard to get so much accomplished, i think she might like the building trade after all!
Our incredible neighbours, Teresa and Nelo and Guy and Zinda have been instrumental in getting so much achieved, we really are in the best place to live in the world and count our blessings.
Thanks to them all and also Norberto for his help and advice this week.
Thanks for watching and please, like, comment, share and subscribe, its free and makes a real difference to our channel and dont forget to follow us on the other socials for more content and news.

  1. Wow what a view you have there. Absolutely beautiful….lots of good hard work and friends coming together. It's going to be a wonderful space when finished! You're living my dreams…meeeooooouuuu

  2. Great to see all of the progress on the rehab of the ruin. Nick, you are so lucky to have wonderful people surrounding you! Hats off to you, Sarah, for being so helpful and supportive. Watching you two horse around in the beginning of the video really made me chuckle. I love team work and camaraderie because it raises the spirits of everybody, even when the jobs are difficult and dirty. I felt a little sea sick🤮 watching the mixer go round and round and round…It reminded me of the tea cup rides at the amusement park. It's all good, can't wait to see more progress. Keep up the great content! Cheers!👍

  3. Love your videos always makes me laugh
Wow the older lady was so strong, it’s nice when neighbours help
My daughters had pet rats and I was terrified for them but I got used to them and used to do everything with them on my shoulders when she was at school
As for the spider no way I would run not that I could run but I’d definitely crawl fast 😂
    Thank you for sharing 😁

  4. Loved it, nice work on the wall plate,it looks proper Cushty!
We share the same musophobia, if that rat had come towards me, I'd have jumped off the roof and still be laying there!
I was fearful, from or you, as you stripped away that vine! 😜

Beautiful Flowers Sarah I think they're the Amaryllis Bellaonna, (I'm sure know they're posionous).

Great neighbours indeed, I'm fortunate on that front too, Hurricane Ian is bearing down.us, here in Tampa Bay, and all the neighbours were out this evening, Reassuring and supporting each other, with offers of help, food and shelter,

Oh and nice bit of singing at the start there Nick, Choon!

    Obrigado amigos ❤️

    Good Lubk

  5. Nick- watching you wet the stone b4 putting on the sand and cement layer reminded me of a priest blessing the crowd at a religious event! So you were blessing the ruin with water 😜 result looks great. And you have marvellous neighbours 👍

  6. Here's a comment! Well apparently they help. I have watched you guys right from your very first post when you first came to view the house. What a long way you have come with your community, You have a pragmatic approach to life there that we enjoy watching. I know its a lot of work making the videos and we very much appreciate it.

  7. Good to see work happening on the lovely cottage. How great it is to have your neighbours help you. I am sure this makes you both feel part of the community. That wood looks lovely. Hope you get some work done before the bad weather comes. How is the crocheting coming along Sarah?

  8. I congratulate you for the work you are doing, really beautiful, I ask you, since you are massively remodeling that space, I think instead of leaving those two small windows, place a larger window so you can appreciate that beautiful valley…for a beautiful morning wake up. Greetings from Argentina

  9. I am sure the old method of setting tiles on roofs and not needing to secure them has worked for centuries but I couldn't help thinking what a big windstorm might do as you were shoving them off from underneath. Lots of work! look forward to seeing the progress. You have awesome neighbors btw

  10. You are bloody funny! I love Teresa’s comment about the camera. The scene of the Vizinhos Team was lovely and made me laugh. Funny how Sarah is so relaxed and you call her for help. It was all entertaining. 🙂 You make the best videos! Sending love from the USA.

  11. I can see why you went to live there, can't imagine anyone round here helping carry all that heavy timber. More likely to walk past & step over it on their way to the shop.
    Coming along really well.
    Big hugs to you both.

  12. Nick and Sarah!! This was an excellent video! Your home is really coming along, with the help of your great neighbors. Nick: you should be rightly proud of your 'Bobby-dazzler' roof edge; it really is level, even if the rat shook up your nerves. 🤣 Sarah: your smile, your flowers, your kitty-love and your faithful help are a joy to behold. May God grant you both good continued health, and enthusiasm to complete your dream home. Thanks again for bringng us along on your journey!

  13. It's great to see that sense of community with your neighbours coming out to lend a hand like that. Really impressive bit of cooperation. Good job getting the roof started too. You and Sarah are forging ahead! 👍👌
