Round 2: Farm Viewings Day 3 | Castelo Branco | Adventures in Farm Hunting Portugal

The third day of our 10 day trip to Castelo Branco for Round 2 of my search for our forever farm. Today I see 4 renovation properties: One in Idanha a Nova and 3 in Penamacor.

All have great potential and super views! They will require full renovations though, floor to ceilings and everything in between.

I fall in love with one from the moment I set foot on the land. Is that the one?

Interested in any of these for yourself? Check them out here:

  1. One thing I learned a very long time ago was to take the opinion of friends and family with a pinch of salt. Anyone who tells me something is too much, or I can't do it, should step aside and get out of my way while I show them what I am capable of…

Another thing I discovered, the longer you look, the more confusing things can become. Sometimes when you find what you think is the one, it is. Be careful of always chasing the holy grail and never finding it.

I wish you all the luck in the world. You are currently at the stage where I hope to be later this year 🙂

  2. The final property is amazing. Lots of olive and fruit trees, water, out buildings. Ticks a lot of boxes. Lots of work to be done, but can be done in stages and would but be an absolutely beautiful homestead in a couple of years time. Just visualise what you could do with it, and think in bite sized chunks of work. All the Best!

  3. Just found your channel and subscribe.
I am sure you may have a fair bit of negotiation skills under your belt. Here are some of my tips when buying Real Estate. I would first have have two different budgets in mind a low budget based on the area you are looking and higher budget that is in line with I can afford to pay for the right place. You only share the low price point with the Agents and keep the other to yourself.
Also, if you see a place that you really like with some major renovations concerns; get a professional to estimate what it would cost and then negotiate with the seller so that you can cover the cost of the renovations within your budget.
Years of experience though me that Real Estate Agents are not my “Friends”🇨🇦

  4. Ken and Gina's (OkPortugal) property was 67.500€ two years ago, with 3,5 hectares and a very good and liveable house with minor renovations needed. Location near Louriçal do Campo. FYI

  5. Can appreciate why you fell in love with this property. The land is beatifully kept. Big restoration project, but depending on funds, could also be done in stages. Good find. Just look at the dogs enjoying the 'freedom' 😊 Good luck with the next viewings.

  6. Hello again, I viewed the property at 4.12 in this video, some nice fruit trees and the buildings have plenty of potential, but as you say, with an area still being owned by the family its a non runner. We thought it was a bit remote too. Although we did have a joke about it being near Medelim like Medellin in Columbia.

  7. Hi! Thank you for your video's!

Could you give me the contacts for the real estate agents you're using (the good ones and the bad ones ;p)
    Thank you in advance!

  8. Awesome, thanks for your video.
Friends are VERY important, but gut feel, will outweigh any trepidation. Unless you are paying E 200.000 on a property, some work will always have to be done on Quinta's/Plaas in Portugal.
If it is going to be a "project or renovation" patience and time, will be your friend in Portugal.
Good luck on your farm viewings.
PS: last property was great and ideal, but overpriced in my opinion.

  9. Go with your gut, have to absolutely love it from the get go think of the time and effort you are going to put into that property (any property you pick). Don't be swayed by the opinions of others (especially the naysayers) visualize what the finished product will look and feel like. Its your vision, no one else's.
    Cheers

  10. Love the last property. Unlikely you will find a "perfect" property – you will always need work doing. Go with your heart as long as you have the funds to survive and to renovate…..bon courage mon amie 😊😊😊
