  1. Homeless people are people period. They could be your mother or father. Just because someone has faced hard times doesn't mean we throw them away.
The housing and apartments have been bought up by wealthy yuppies who cheat, using the governmental housing agencies.
They then mark up the rent so that no homeless person or low income person can afford rent. Sometimes they charge over $2,000 a month in rent.
Also no employers will hire homeless people. There is no incentive for the employer. The last time I checked, the definition of charity is, it is more blessed to give, than to receive. But what do I know.
The only places that hire some are fast food restaurants. But even those who make low wages cannot afford a motel room, much less an apartment.
The mental health institutions are no more and now even psychiatric services are limited. So not only do we have homeless addicts. Now we have mentally ill people who have co addiction as well. Not that I blame them. They are trying to self medicate to stay sane.
The drug dealers are pushing dangerous street drugs. Right now in my city. Fetanayl is being sold on the streets and these people are dying from overdoses.
Lack of access to treatment centers, and now having to have a clean UA to stay in a homeless shelter. They are set up for failure.
The treatment centers will not take people who have no money. Or if they do it is only for a 48 hr. Detox. Then they are put on long waiting lists. Sometimes the wait is a year or more.
The halfway houses are full of people on parole from prison and cannot keep up with the rising homeless populations.
Money is being siphoned by greedy CEOs who make 6 figures or more from running charities.
The IRS seems to be absent or unavailable for comments on why this is and why nothing is done about it.
So let's break down this vicious circle of poverty.
Lack of housing or adequate shelter or unreasonable shelter rules.
    Lack of a living wage.
Lack of cooperation from employers, landlords and government agencies.
Illegal deadly drugs being sold on the streets.
Limited drug treatment services and mental health services.
When doors are shut, how can anyone succeed?

  2. The only way to successfully end homelessness in San Jose at this point ? Is to round them all up , destroy what they have , take them to a large camp that they can’t get out of , and dry them out ! Off of alcohol and drugs ! Make them learn a craft , go to school and when they are deemed ready give them some money and tell them don’t make us come get you again ! Yes take away their freedom . They are impinging all over our freedom and quality of life !

  3. I used to attend back when his Dad was still alive. They always went on about how are donations were helping poor and hungry people around the world. They never talked about the ones around our neighborhood. I never saw them open their doors to the homeless during the brutal cold winter night's. And now they want to preach about helping the local homeless. I'll believe it when I see it. Who knows if they can pull off that miracle then maybe I'll return to the flock someday.

  4. Even when they are not helping, the commenters have to make others feel bad because someone is willing to do it. How is sending homeless people to Newsom's winery do any good? what is the point? if you don't want to help, don't help. Don't ask people to stop giving to churches.
