Josh from ExpatsEverywhere is going to walk through a property in Porto, Portugal. A few of us are getting together to buy and renovate a building in Porto. In the last episode, Josh and Nuno drove around Bonfim, our favorite neighborhood. Today let’s take a look at a house, garage, and garden space and decide whether this house is good for us. This vlog will be useful for expats in Portugal to look at the pros and cons of real estate in Porto. Let’s see what’s next for this vertical community venture.

Hi Josh & Kalie, really happy to see you found your home. We have been following you guys for months and love the content. We are a family of 3 from Canada moving to Portugal (Porto) in October and looking to find a 1 year lease. Do you know a good realtor that you would recommend to help us find a lease for D7? TIA
ribly old. I suspect there are hidden plumbing, electrical and structural issues. Too many flags. Not this one.
Halfway through the Video I was going to stop to comment and say please don't mess with this property. I am glad that you stayed away from this one. I am sure and hope you will find a better one.
Awesome property, Josh and Kalie. With the right architect, or design this may work. You are correct, lots of ‘wasted’ living spaces.
Great visit! How much is this place listed for?
The clutter!🤦🏻♂️
We are struggling to find someone help us get a D7. We need someone we can trust since were still in the us can you suggest someone?
The place looks like it needs a gut renovation. I hope you can negotiate the price way down. All the best!
Great plan to generate income and have your own place! What area was it and for how much? Stairs break up and take away to much square footage. We are a small family of 3, moving back to Portugal after planning our return for end of August We were at Rua da Firmeza year before last.
Another great video, Josh. I spit out my coffee when you mentioned the Austin Powers parking situation. It's so interesting to see what a potential property looks like. I think it will be a great reno for someone – I really liked that tiny space in the back… 🙂
I read an article that many people moving from California are driving up the rental price and the Portuguese people can no longer afford to live near the city center. People are protesting and telling the people from the United States to go home. The government is discontinuing the golden visa. I wanted to move to Portugal but with the prices increasing and the inflation from the war, I have changed my mind. Be careful about investing, never rely on other families.
What an incredible property. The details from a builders design aspect are just rarely seen in new builds nowadays with out incurring a huge cost.
It does look like a great project for a 3 apartment conversion with the back yard studio a great Airbnb unit that could be managed as a way to cover h.o.a.s and communal expenses. Any left over profits could be divided by the owners.
Sounds like you have a great project developing. I'll have to go through the playlist.
It's funny here in Central Florida the housing markets, both sales and rentals are reaching California levels. Especially with the influx of families migrating from New York and California. With the shift from location dependent jobs to remote working.
Are you seeing a similar thing happening there? I would love to move to Portugal with my wife and 11 year old daughter. But that would take a bit of convincing. More so,, since we loved to live abroad but told ourselves we needed to put down roots for our daughter.
Great channel and thanks for sharing your journey with us. 👍🤙🏄♂️🌊 🏄♀️
Hi, is the idea to outsource the work to contractors or do the work yourself? If you outsource will you manage the contractors or get an architect to manage? Fair play to you to undertake this type of undertaking – I could see it being stressful. Plenty of buildings are being renovated in our home town, Setubal – since the easing of covid restrictions. I wonder if there's a scarcity of contractors?
Felt like a very closed in place; ceilings were cool but bathrooms were scary, kitchen also not great – PASS
Wouldn't but it unless it's close to a fast food takeaway. Period.
Remember, there are devices to park one car on the top of the other when you have sufficient height. This house had a lot of goodies to keep. The best success! 🙂
Total fixer. You will need to remodel and reconfigure kitchen and baths. Wood needs refinish. Plaster wall may need patching. Painting is definitely a must. Garage flooring needs refinish. Outdoor area also needs to be redesigned. No closet therefore you can add or continue to use wardrobes.
Those long narrow garages are pretty common here in San Francisco. I've been told that the neighbors handle it by exchanging a spare set of keys. That way the parking can be first come first serve and they can move each other's car out of the way when they get blocked in. Food for thought in case you find another similar property.
I agree , it sees a bit too tight for 4 families. You will know it, when you see it ! Keep searching e boa fortuna !
Interesting property, Josh and Kalie! Has a garage and a yard. Obviously, price and reovation cost will be a factor. Great you can see the possibities! 😁👍
1980's time capsule there.
I think it looks smaller because there is just so much stuff! Wishing you all best luck, Josh and Kalie! 💕
The outside space/ garden area is really nice, and there are a lot of cute & unique details in the building, but overall I think it might be a bit too small & would need too many renovations. Fingers crossed you guys find the perfect space soon 🤞🤞🤞
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. Hope u guys will find d most suitable property in Porto for your biz venture.
What a beautiful find though….I love all the details.
Looks way too small for four (growing?) families!
Be careful with replacing the windows, because they are part of the “breathing mechanism” of the house, and you wouldn’t want to keep any dampness in…
Did i missed the price and the total square meters?
We are a family of 5 with 3 little girls under 6.
Would have loved to get in on this with you but wont be able to make any plans until we solidify things at home over the next few months.
Too bad!
I've seen this house and love it!
Keep looking…You will know when it's the right one!! Love being in on your search! We are closing soon…😃🙂🙃😁LOL! Lots of emotions/excitement!!
Looks like more costly renovations than I would tackle. Yet, does have many things that looks like could be kept. Nice cell video though!
