New here? My name is Lea and I live with my partner Maarten, our toddler Puck and baby Bo on our land in Central Portugal. We left the rat race in the Netherlands in 2018 and moved south in our old campervan. Two years ago we bought land in Portugal that had been abandoned for several decades. After lots of hard work we now live in a beautiful yurt and keep ourselves busy growing our own vegetables as well as producing olive oil, wine and honey on a small scale. This channel documents all the different jobs we have to do, and sometimes some nice footage of this beautiful country we now call home. Want to see more updates? Don’t forget to subscribe!

I love that chickpea recipe!
When my children were home I did laundry all most every day. Now it is usually twice a week, Monday and Friday.
Thanks for the update very nice video 👍 looking forward to next week's video,🤗
Oh man you live so beautiful op there, and then that weather………I am so jealous. Today is a sunny day here in the Netherlands I must say, but we have had such bad weather! Nice video though.
Sorry – "my first visit back since 2020"
Hello Lea, I have been without Wifi for just a little over one year; this is my first visit to Our Portuguese Homestead. Am in total awe of how well you are coping, you guys are such an inspiration. Congratulations on little Bo, he is so smart and good looking. xx
Hi your beautifull family every time i watch put smile on my lips.
Ik geniet van jullie vlogjes en geweldig gezinnetje ❤️
Hi Leah, I remember that my mother did laundry once a week, a whole day project together with ironing. Our clothes were separated into school clothes and play clothes (which were clean only once a week 😆). But mind you, that was growing up in the fifties in Germany. Today in America, people seem to run their washers/dryers all day because they could not possibly put on something again after it has been worn a few hours.
Nice to see your life – and it's great that you protect the privacy of your kids !!!
Carrot skin is very good for you. But it is also very good for your Chickens.
Saludos familia. Cuanta paz nos dais con cada vídeo. Gracias….
So cute with the cat! I can see you are doing a lot better and looking good. You work hard and it shows. Both of you are providing a safe comfy home and lots of good memories. Thanks for sharing your adventure. I appreciate all your efforts.
'Subsiding' I think is the word you may have been searching for. Chickpeas are a good source of protein. I love making veg-based soups. I always make my own fresh tomato sauce for chillis or pasta and put cinnamon in it. It really adds a richness to the flavor with tomato. In the past I have even canned it so it would be available during the non-growing season. I also put cinnamon in my ground coffee to flavor the coffee. As for the well, maybe have a deeper slope from the french drain toward the deepest part of the pond so the water doesn't stay at the same level as the drain and make the pond a bit deeper to encourage the water to drain toward it.
nice
Such a coincidence! I was watching/listening along as I was making dinner which also happened to be a chickpea, tomato, carrot and rice one-pot dish so I took your idea and added raisins – thanks!
I am sure people understand about you and the children's privacy, I agree with you on that. You have a lovely property and it looks so beautiful. I am sure Maarten will come up with an solution of the pond. I believe there has been a drought in Portugal I do hope you get rains soon. How are the seedlings coming on? I do hope you will have a great crop this year. Leah, you and Maarten are doing a wonderful job on your property. Have a lovely day.
You stated how you expected the weather to go, then said you weren't looking forward to it. Sounds to me like you are looking forward to it.
Beautiful video! Thank you for sharing it and be positive, rain will come and the pond will be fill up with lovely water 🙂 and good cooking ideas!
Great insight on a lovely family. Thanks 🌹❤🇺🇸👍
Big Lub 🙂 X
I always get a happy tear in my eye when I see your girl dog – I am so pleased she has found a happy and safe home now with kind people who care about her and take care of her.
Good thoughts your way for the rain, and all the dry….
Really appreciate all your care about privacy. Good work.
And I am glad that spring is approaching fast…..
I understand the seasonal depression stuff. For sure.
Focus can be hard…..
You are doing just fine!!!
Yay!! Shower!!!
Cinnamon in new tomato sauce is magic!
Hubby, the seasoning-meister, also uses some molasses for a bit of 'warm-sweet'. Dont' know if that is cheap in your area.
