Queues at Spanish airports for brits is not a direct result of Brexit but deliberate backlash by Spain to "teach us a lesson". In the long term brits will holiday in more friendly countries and Spain will suffer.

SPAIN under the new measures, tourists will only be allowed to have six drinks a day. On top of that, these will be restricted to lunch and dinner times, meaning people will only be allowed three tipples per meal.

There is a maximum of six alcoholic drinks per person per day that can be served and these drinks will be provided only during lunch and dinner (three each). Please be aware that there is new restriction on All Inclusive Holidays.

Brexit was the UK's decision to leave the EU, so for Brits who can no longer stay 90 days in Spain (really the EU zone), or who see EU people in shorter lines at airports, this was their choice. Spain and the EU didn't ask for this. From what I recall, Brexit was more about "immigration" at the time and I doubt these travelling implications were a major component of that referendum. This is what the country decided, however.

In 2016, then-President Trump was elected in the US with about 34% of the voting population selecting him. Americans had to live with that decision during those years (for better or worse), too, even if the majority of citizens didn't vote for him. #votingmatters.

If Brits want to get back into the EU, perhaps they can petition their government instead of blaming Spain or the EU. My 2ø…

Hi Stuart, Queuing at the airport to the point of missing your flight isn't in my opinion a result or the reality of Brexit! It would suggest to me that the airport staffing is insufficient to deal with the volume of traffic. I can't recall hearing reports of other non EU travellers having the same problem so again suggesting that the staffing at the airport and their ability to deal with the change is at fault. For a country that is heavily dependent on tourism, to potential create such a negative travelling experience to a major part of its market (the UK) is not very productive!

In my very humble accommodation in Mexico, my electricity bill is less than two euros a month.

Interest in travel to Rota and Cadiz, hope car rental has not gotten to expensive from my last time some years prior to pandemic visiting from the states. I will rent in Portugal and drive to Spain and to Sevilla then fly on. Checking to see how rental companies work where you pickup in one location and drop off in another. We sailed through Málaga security today. A week ago Bristol was the busiest I have ever seen. After arriving in Gib last Thursday and immediately crossing the border into La Linea we had to show prove of hotel bookings to cross into Spain. From Algeciras we took a shared car ride to Jerez I can recommend the company and the drivers have a rating.

I see that due to UK is the largest tourist group in Portugal that they decided to give them their own line. Now Portugal is a smaller country and as such could be more adversely affected by UK tourist not going to Portugal plus it gives them an advertising advantage over Spain with attracting UK tourists. Though I think this could be a double edge sword as far as attracting tourist from other non EU countries, besides making your country more dependent economically on tourist from one country.

Ireland is in the EU. The UK is not.

I can’t enter Spain as more than 270 days since last vaccination can’t have anymore due anaphylactic shock at 2nd vax, haven’t had covid so no recovery certificate, can’t enter via neg test either. Tomorrow we are going to Croatia having done a test (neg). Thought the good news was going to be can enter with a neg test oh well Spain will have to wait.

I recently returned to Northern Ireland The couple in front of me
Pensioners were separated at customs because the lady had a British and the
Man an Irish passport this caused a lot of distress for the lady
Northern Ireland is still in the EU to safeguard the peace

Strange attitude Stuart. So Brexit should lead to queues of up to 2 hours should it? What an arrogant position you take. We flew in to Lyon in Feb on a full flight and were met with a large, snaking queue. We were through within 20 minutes. Similar when we flew to Crete last year and same for Antigua. And so why should Spain take that long. Simple, they don't put enough staff on. If I were in Madrid I'd offer to meet up and demonstrate how it works.

I'm currently in Ireland as a British citizen. Ireland is in the EU but not in Schengen. No passport check and no 90 day restriction. I could even live and work here without a visa. So Brits are still not treated entirely the same as other non-EU citizens.
