Where in Portugal do you have your holiday unit or house?
Love these outdoor vlogs, Stuart. Weather is lovely. I d like to make a correction if I may. Dogs don't breath through their paws, they sweat. And panting with their mouth open keeps them cool too. Till the next walk👍

So, given that work was not a necessity, would it be Spain or Portugal for you to settle permanently? Whats the pros and cons in your opinion?
Muchas gracias por el video Stuart hope you are enjoying your break the heat is getting punishing not a pleasure all the locals are saying how hot it is
I found your description of differences between Spanish and Portuguese interesting. I have a problem when I go to Italy because I find myself speaking my limited Spanish when there, as they are so similar in lots of ways. I get really mixed up!
Don’t forget to have her bum clipped. Lol
Hey great video, really enjoyed the scenery. Which beach/trail is this?
Bom dia desde de Calgary, Canadá. Great to see you back in Portugal. Até o próximo vídeo!
Basically the restaurants are stealing
It is amazing Spain has not heard about the gas supply’s being turned down,I also did not know about the driving licence law, when I did I tried to apply,in time by the way, nobody answered the phone I tried day after day until my time run out, nobody allows for the older people I am 76 years old.please tell me what more l could of done before you say it was my fault.
the 15% cut in gas consumption is to bail out Germany for its imbecile policy against Russian gas. No to stupid German bailout.
Where exactly is that in Portugal, its very frustrating when you don't actually say where you are? If you don't want to say exactly then say so at the beginning and I can go and watch something else.
Iberia has nothing on Venice for rip offs. We were charged for the meal, mandatory tips AND service charge, use of the toilets and even listening to their terrible music! They charged me for a more expensive version of the fish dish I pointed to on the menu to avoid miscommunication. There were rough arm salesmen everywhere. We were moved from the nice hotel I booked to a ghetto due to flooding apparently! It was one thing after another and we were there 3 nights !
Great job Stuart, thanks for all mate. Aproveite.
We recently spent a few weeks in Can Pastilla, Mallorca. The restaurants are a but pricy but the food was generally a higher standard. It was pretty hot but the sea breezes made it more bearable. The prices in the supermarkets were similar to those in Mazarron, Murcia where we live.
Fab video, have a relaxing time. 20c would be ace, we're all sweating like the proverbial piiiiiigs here in the Barca region!
If you have a problem in a restaurant in Spain, I would highly recommend asking for the 'Libro de Reclamaciones' which all restaurants are legally required to have and in which you can record your complaint. If the restaurant is trying to scam you, it would rather settle the affair than have a red flag in their book, particularly if they are doing it all the time.
Stuart you mentioned that you are starting to improve in Portuguese. So was it difficult for you to buy a property there in Péniche ?
As per tourism, WHO declared monkey pox emergency.
What part of Portugal are you in. Love the videos and live chats. Thx.
.. sad that restaurant charge schemes are so widespread. I've seen this with another Youtuber on Spain.
Tommy from Edmonton, Alberta.
Welcome back to Portugal my friend. However the supermarket prices in Peniche and also Lourinha have increased a lot an the last week or so, presumably just to rob the tourists. Also in Lisbon now even budget hotel prices on the outskirts have topped 100 euros a night minimum. Crazy all round.
It’s typically good when any country stands up for their interest and citizens. Spain and Portugal should not compromise on the gas. What makes europe so great is all the different countries so close to each other. They need to stay different and protect their own citizens. Otherwise you will be run over by politicians form other countries. We have a hard enough time with our own politicians. When you go to a county like spain you should see Spainish culture not something different imposed by other countries.
Love the scenery. So serene. Dry grass colours next to the cool oceanic blue
I saw you're going to get calima tomorrow. Bad luck! (There does seem to be a lot of calima this year – far more than usual!)
Some restaurants are killing off their own trade. We on numerous occasions used a restaurant for over 10 yrs last year we were given as usual a small basket of sliced bread. On asking for the bill we found that a 3€ charge was now charged for what had been previously complimentary bread. We do not now use that restaurant and have noticed that their trade has been greatly reduced. Some of the staff have moved to other restaurants due to lack of customers.
Aren't governments supposed to act in the best interests of their citizens? As such the Spanish and Portuguese governments are correct to secure gas supplies, not just for households but industry too.
I have read that some dogs have fur that insulates them from BOTH heat and cold. I am not sure about yours. Those who do have insulating fur have something like an inner layer of fur and an outer layer separated by an air layer that provides the insulation.
Not sure if it's still the way but when we had holidays in Portugal all restaurants would place bread and a tin of pate on the table once you had ordered your drink and menu but not charged if you didn't touch it do they still do that Stu ?
Miss going there as we are resident in Spain for 20 years now ,love to visit again maybe one day maybe ?
Thanks for your film of the trip you are on be happy ,enjoy, Angie
I'm going to Vairao this August. It is close to Porto. My parents have just told me to grab cod. I'll also buy tea in Lisbon for my Brit relatives. It's already over, but for decades all Spaniards going to Portugal had to buy cutlery, truly, and towels.
I think the escalation in fires on the Iberia peninsula is due to excessive reforestation of land for lumber, every year there seems to be more and more forestry plantations in areas that were once scrub land. The Romans chopped down most of the forests here now there is a big push to replant them lol
Hi Stu. We live near Cartagena in Spain where it is very hot at the moment. Lived here for two and a half years with our 14 year old daughter and love your updates. So helpful and informative. Trying very hard to learn spanish. Our daughter goes to school here with another British child and the spanish just want to speak in English to them. Difficult for her when they go back into the classroom and everything is in spanish, but impressed with her progress, despite her being incredibly shy. My husband and I feel like we will never be fluent, despite trying hard to learn. Any tips?
rip-off is everywhere these days
Isn't there a saying that European Portuguese sounds like a drunk Russian trying to speak Spanish? I find learning Portuguese to be quite fun, but also a bit daunting. In terms of pronunciation, I guess the biggest challenges are vowels, nasalisation and the tendency to swallow syllables, so that it takes a while before you make the connections between written and spoken Portuguese.
Yes, every country should do exactly what they EU says.
I don't think everyone realises that restaurants charge for the bread or rolls that are brought to your table in Spain. Unless you have ordered the bread and eaten it, challenge the charge on your bill. As yet, no restaurant has refused to take it off my bill.
Do you think there will come a time when Spain leaves the EU?
Hi, I'm afraid that the restaurant you
mention is gonna charge for breathing!! What about that!! Ain't that great!! Saludos desde Texas, I enjoy your informative talks.
Yep in Portugal, Monday to Friday are numbered market days.
Looks like the headland of Peniche. Maybe you can make a video of Obidos?
You can stick Spain won't be back in a hurry until they do away with all these rules about the unjabed getting in from the uk i for one wouldn't let any person from spain into the uk unless they do away all that crap
Enjoy your holiday. Beautiful coastline for Mia to go walkies. Great language lessons, 👌.
