We are in the middle of renovating our house in an abandoned Portuguese village. After days of rain today finally it seems like we are in luck. So let’s continue with that roof. I am starting with rising the gable with the first layer of tijolos. But we start with cleaning up the existing wall.

Are you planning on setting the beam on hollow blocks? There’s going to be a huge weight at that point. Before you construct the gable of hollow blocks, take that into consideration. The other end of the beam is resting on a solid stone wall.
I see you're not cementing bricks vertically and horizontally! You all need to determine where the peak of the gable will go the cement your bricks in a pyramid . Widest at the bottom then each row gets a little shorts to the angle of the rafters.
Use a laser line from your established roof peak would be easiest in establishing the new peak point.
I was thinking about the floor plan .. I suggest keeping the same bathroom then cut out a door into the main area .. so building would be bathroom with door going into your bedroom then door going into the living /lounge area with door going into the kitchen- keep kitchen where it is now. On the other side of the kitchen you have the extra room/s for bedrooms to rent out or for your guest.

Good to see the start of the gable end Jasper. One to two courses per day and soon you'll be able to start looking for people to get that ridge beam up.

I will never understand why this person knocked down that beautiful stonewall. All he's done is created bigger problems for himself. Why doesn't he just pay someone to do it for him.
Anyway I love the way he gives the dog attention when it barks exactly what the dog wants. You don't give a dog attention when it's barking for no reason all you do is encourage it to bark more in the future.
