Day two will see the overall contenders come to the fore and a GC hierarchy established. There is a significant amount of climbing to conquer in the first 150km, but this stage is all about its final 30km. The Alto de Picota (9.5km at 5.7%) falls first, acting as a warm-up for the tough drag to the summit of the Alto de Fóia (7.6km at 6.1%), a climb that has featured at the last eight editions of this race. Its consistent ramps suit the diesel climbers and those who like to climb to tempo.
