Sunday in my Cottage Kitchen Garden 🌱 Living Off Grid in Portugal 🌞

I thought I’d take you along for a slow Sunday, spending time in our kitchen that we’ve been building and collecting herbs and ingredients from our garden, showing our daily routine and rituals.

I needed to make some oat milk (here’s the recipe from Minimalist Baker:

The leftover oats I made banana pancakes with strawberries picked fresh from our homestead.

A little of our story:
Carissa, Iwan & Frankie decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month they were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call their new home. We picked up Albi the cat along the way. Subscribe to follow our journey as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

  1. Lovely video! Flies not sure if it’s been recommended but adding a coin in a small bag half filled with water seems to work ( hang nr doors, windows and wherever you are sat) it creates prisms which deter flies apparently

  2. Haha.. Frankie got home first😂
I’m loving your garden Carissa, wishing you every success this growing season.
I picked you up from the time Bee and Theo visited you. Things have changed so much with your hard work and effort.
    Love your work
    Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🇵🇹❤️

  4. Carissa I notice that you drink herb tea that you make yourself. I find that very interesting. Could you tell us more about that, e.g. the types of herb you mix together and also do you do that just for the taste or does that have certain health benefits. Thank you in advance

  5. I so enjoyed this video. Like you said, it is a slow moving video today, and I just loved it. I love seeing your gardens, and the animals. It was very interesting how you made out milk, and I enjoy seeing how you make your herbal teas.

  6. The oat milk looks awesome! i will have to try it!.. why is no one over there seems to use small wind turbines?… when i was up in the mountains a few years ago, if it rained there always seemed to be wind.. i was designing a system , for a similar property i look at over there! but covid changed my plans!.. two 300 watt solar panels and two 300 watt chinese wind turbines which cost around £200 each, and if one breaks always have a back up!.. just a suggestion, love your home and location! you had the right idea! keep it up..

  7. Citroenella or Lemon essential oil dabbed on door frames or make an air spray 1 cap gin or vodka, a spray bottle 10 to 15 drops citroenella essential oil and 125 ml spring water shake up and then spritz doorway and window openings.

  8. Such a relaxing video. The garden looks great. It seems like you are enjoying getting organized in your finished kitchen. Yay. Wanted to send seeds and such.. How do I get your PO Box?? Cheers
