Playa de Las Américas and Cristianos are fine if your a family with kids. There are the beaches and lots of good restaurants. However the south of Tenerife sucks if your single and wanting to socialize with new people. The resident foreigners are all working class idiots who anyone with even a decent education wouldn't want to hang out with and the native Canarians are even worse! Unless you're a teenager or college age coming with a group of friends, Thailand is you best bet when factoring in weather and cost of living. I work here online so I've got my job but it sucks socially!
