Beijinos e abraços,
Carissa, Iwan, Frankie & Albi

Carissa, Iwan & Frankie decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month they were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call their new home. We picked up Albi the cat along the way. Subscribe to follow our journey as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

  1. Loved your live – it was so nice getting to know you better. I agree no long intro – I always skip Cindys and Theo and Bea. I like the idea of having a skip option because I can see how useful they might be for new listeners. But you could always put a good intro in the community section.

  2. If you build a woodshed sauna you can wash in the winter with a bucket in the antique original Finnish /Russian style country. It is our system if our electricity goes down. In winter cats love saunas too. In summer a great place use as storage for anything.

  3. I started with chickens and ended up with Turkeys they are fantastic and they live with chickens and protect them from prey birds and mammals. Their eggs are great for cakes and the meat does not grow tough with age. They are kind, peaceful and funny 😉

  4. Well done on your 10000 subs. As we can see, you don't need to do crazy stunts, put your life in danger, be a nutter or a celeb to be loved by others, simple life, honesty, down to earth etc. its all that takes.
As for learning and in this case Portuguese, do what we Portuguese do, SUBTITLES, our national tv stations, public or not, NEVER double the actors voice, they always use subtitles, there's a reason amongst others, why we tend to be pretty good in languages, and not only we do speak, but we usually are good with the accent to.
I would like to say thank you, for your love to us, makes me feel proud of what we really are, GENUINE, that's magic, and if you have the chance on the future, you should fly from Porto to Funchal, Madeira Island, that's where I'm from, believe me, its one of the most paradisiac places on Earth, and yes, people are very nice to.
    Stay safe!.

  5. It was great to hear all the latest news and views! Bravo, to you both. Take us with you when you walk to the market some time. 🙂 Looking forward to seeing your wine making process (in the future). Enjoy

  6. The wall behind you is so 😍 pretty.
Alby came in and snuggled up right on que!
I'm loving you're cozy sofa and the stems in the vase are simply elegant .
    Congratulations on 10k 👏

  7. Congratulations. I love your channel and particularly can relate to living on such a limited income. It gives me hope that such a huge life change can be achieved without a lot of money. Also, the wall is beautiful! Are you thinking you might leave it like that now?

  8. Generated Solar power is DC which is soooooo much safer to handle than AC. If you connect DC incorrectly it will just reverse the direction of the motor (for example), whereas AC would cook the motor and potentially fry you as well.

  9. Yes ….learning needs getting in hard…after learning well I made a goal of not getting stuck with my Brazilian friends, only meeting in the special days, stuck in the daily 6pm news, they speak faster, reading more and more, all available, plus my college work…and soon all was flowing…a demand in all languages, plus not being afraid or unkind…it became my love…teaching and translating💫🤗🎁

  10. Lovely video, I love you two! RE: learning Portuguese, I massively recommend italki for finding online tutors, probably you have heard of it already. I found a few tutors I really liked, and for about 8 months had 4 hours of conversation practice a week. A short and intensive investment (in time and money, although there are tutors all over the world so you can find prices which reflect that…) but that was basically how I learned Spanish.

Edited to add that the flowers in the background are gorgeous!

  11. Yes..someone just mentioning the delicious things pastel de Belen and so many others…I never stooped getting the delicious warm nuts sold in the corner of the streets, warm (warmed me up), healthy and delicious…they cooked and just sold, rapped in the news paper …delicious…and above all, some wonderful loving new friends🥰💫🤗💯🎁

  12. Congrats on 10,000 subscribers Iwan and Carissa. I really enjoyed the Q&A as it was really helpful. I have just begun the process of buying a farm in Lardosa but not yet ready to live in Portugal full time until my daughter finishes uni so the questions and answers were really helpful. Keep up the great work, your chanel and a few others have really inspired me to finally take the plunge and I can't wait to get over there very soon xx 🙂

  13. I vote no to the intro. I don't know if you can "pin" this Q&A for new viewers. I would watch 2 videos per week. Suggestions: chat with us whilst you walk to the cafe, interview the cafe owner and neighbors, cook a few meals, it is always fun seeing you relaxing with your friends, etc…

  15. Congratulations guys on 10k subscribers. Excellent q&a vlog, and so interesting. Would love to see more of your local area including the local cafe, maybe filming on your route there. No need for an intro, great as it is. Best of luck for the future.
