The secret weapon in our war on the brambles – Portable power with the Bluetti AC200MAX (review)

Summer is here in full force, so we spend time in the garden watering all the plants so they can survive the day. To test the power station Bluetti sent us we also use the jackhammer for a little bit, and we till the brambles on our new piece of the property. Finally it is time to put shade netting over the greenhouse so that the plants don’t fry in there.

New here? My name is Lea and I live with my partner Maarten, our toddler Puck and baby Bo on our land in Central Portugal. We left the rat race in the Netherlands in 2018 and moved south in our old campervan. Two years ago we bought land in Portugal that had been abandoned for several decades. After lots of hard work we now live in a beautiful yurt and keep ourselves busy growing our own vegetables as well as producing olive oil, wine and honey on a small scale. This channel documents all the different jobs we have to do, and sometimes some nice footage of this beautiful country we now call home.

  1. Puck is a good helper! Do Portuguese schools take the summer off as US ones do? It seems she is learning a lot at home too! Long term plans lead to long term success! The idea of a slightly shaded, wind sheltered garden is something worth trying.

  2. Leah I must say the method you are using to water your vegetables is amazing. I have never seen gardening this way. Does it have a name to grow this way. Your vegetables are amazing, I am very impressed. Every other video I come across they all insist on watering with drip irrigation (I am not saying this is bad) but if one does not have the money to do that I find your method fantastic. I wish I had ground to experiment what you are doing. I am growing in tubs and raised beds from Lidl. I live in a small town and have very small space and the previous people have tiled the whole back garden in. Hence the pots. I enjoy your videos, you and Maarten work so hard.

  3. Ola,

Your new toy looks wonderful! We are jealous.

We aren't jealous of trying to deal with the brambles. Glad we are just watching that part. We have built enough gardens to know how difficult.

    Enjoy your journey

    It'll Be Fun

  4. I've learned that whenever you see butterflies or moths, that not a great sign. Use neem oil with dawn dish washing liquid and water and spray your tomatoes and cucumbers. You'll be so happy. Still organic.

  5. Love what you and your partner have done on your homestead. You both have a hard Job there taking care of the land an your two great kids. On clear the brambles from your terraces you might concider using a tarp of black plactic sheeting and some weight to spread over the weeds not the fastest way to get rid of them but it cuts down the work you have to do.

  6. Thanks for sharing the clip, Looks like Jake and Luke are getting the hang of it. That Wave is pretty interesting. I have been looking for a portable air conditioner to use in my off grid cabin and that looks like it.

  7. Pros: you're now a proud owner of a power unit that'll make your lives hopefully easier 😊
Cons: I just watched a 30min commercial that also benefits business as they didn't have to pay for 😒
Conclusion:🙄 big businesses found a way to squeeze into out prior commercial free videos.
End result:💯 your life is easier and more efficient and that's a good thing, at least you only do these commercials for things you believe in and that you will use😊
Ps.. can you use it to essentially pump/clean out the water catchment system instead of the buckets? Plants look great btw!!😉👍

  8. Well, in your case i think that the portable battery generator is a waste of money. You don't have enough power from your PV to charge this power bank, the other batteries connected to the PV and to have spare energy for other appliances. I think you have running water in your property which also has a considerable inclination which means you already have the two basic ingredients to go Micro Hydro! Micro hydro is a small hydro generator which uses the flow and pressure of water to produce electricity 24/7. What you need is to install (or build) a water tank near the water source. With tube or canals you can fill the water tank and then with tubes drive the water to the lowest point where the generator is installed. You don't even need new inverters or battery chargers because you can connect it to these you already have for your PV. Do a small research in the Internet.

  9. Wow the garden and greenhouse plants seem to be doing quite well. Puck is a joy to behold unbridled energy and spirit. Thanks for taking us along y’all’s journey. Quite warm here in Texas too. Have a good week.

  10. Cover crops are a great investment in the future while you have the time. Just a little bit of attention here will probably yield massive results. Also, the work is doing two things instead of one which is always a win for me personally: suppressing what you don't want and encouraging what you do want. Competition FTW! My two cents are that perennial flowers dotted about would look quite beautiful in the dappled sunlight setting of this part of your property. Would roses be appropriate here?
