  1. Hi, this is for non Europeans. How about Europeans ? A question : do sufficient gains from staking crypto each year count for income in Portugal ? Usually Portugal wants the EU citizen to have a sufficient income like a salary or pension… Just wondering because I haven't got a job and my usual income will stop soon. Thanks if you can reply one day.

  2. The student visa is superior. Quick and easy to get and without the need to prove income – only assets. Fees in Portuguese universities are very cheap (under 1000 euro per semester for Portuguese language classes) and of course you will learn the language and feel more integrated sooner due to having classmates etc. Residence as a student counts towards the time needed for PR or citizenship and if you study 150 hours of Portuguese at a recognized institution (Lisbon, Braga, Coimbra or Porto) and pass, you can avoid taking the CIPLE exam. Another benefit is for opening bank accounts etc. If you are a student, no questions will be asked regarding your employment etc. Many Portuguese financial institutions require proof of employment or unemployment to do anything. Finally, if you are a student, it is far less likely that the tax authorities will actively investigate you. After all, you are a student and naturally don't have income right? I am an EU national and I still signed up as a student. I will continue as one for my entire time here. The D7 is a cash cow for agencies and lawyers, as it requires applicants to secure accommodation a NIF and a bank account remotely. It is better to invest that money in educating yourself than putting it into the coffers of a 3rd party.

  3. I'm not giving up my citizenship just to save on taxes i can find I ton of ways to save on taxes that's easy. Who to say later Portugal changes the tax laws for crypto and the US decided to make changes that benefits the investor the what I left before knowing the outcome

  4. I understood from the video that a D7 is a fast track to getting a permit, and then at the 2 year mark you can then apply for a golden visa. but you don't have to stay at all for the initial 2 years? Or do you need to visit at least 7 days? Is there any risk to the rules changing before you've had a chance to apply for the golden visa, thereby nullifying your d7 residency permit because you didn't meet the stay requirement?
