This Is What I Love About Living in Lisbon | Peace is the New Luxury

So, I’ve been here in Lisbon, Portugal for 18 months now and couldn’t be happier. In this video, I want to share some of the things I live about Lisbon.

  1. if you pay atention , the fact of talking to someone and ingage visualy , the exchange of energy is more intense , involving, and over time you read and feel people in a diferet way !
you will notice better once you get used to it, and sudenly you talk with someone that doesn´t do that

before you know it ….you will be hugging and kissing people 😂😂😂

  2. I just found your page recently and am loving these Lisbon videos! I went to Portugal in 2017 and absolutely fell in love with the country and have dreamt of moving there since then. The safety aspect, fresh food, amazing coast, and access to other European cities is what draws me in. While I’m in a relatively safe US city (Austin), I definitely crave living somewhere that’s just so much more chill.

I would love to know how you plan on visiting family in the US. Trips 1-2 a year, or more?

  3. I think one of the factors that contribute to the Safety you feel in Portugal has to do with how we treat drug consumption.
Since 2001 we decriminalised drug use. Although still being illegal, you are not treated as a criminal if you are caught using or under the influence (except driving, of course) but as someone that needs help. You are redirected to the National Health System to an addiction specialist to help you get rid of it.
We were having a drug epidemic in the 90s as well, but since decriminalisation drug related deaths and criminality has dropped significantly

  4. Another fantastic video.
    Thank you Prachel.
Interesting, you favour the narrow, old streets Instead of the wide, gorgeous early XIX Century Avenues and Romantic Parks.
Or the GEOMETRIC XVIII Century Steets.
Build after the terrible 1755 devastating Earthquake and Tsunami that destroyed most of the wealthy, Posh Palaces and Magnificent Buildings. Sparing the lower classes sections of the City.

You truly look at peace with yourself and the World.
Or rather, with our Way of Llife.

An extremely Safe Environment, a low-profile sophistication , urbanity and elegance, a Great Public Health Service totally free for kids, pregnant women, older people.
And practically free for the entire Population.

COVID placed a lot of pressure on the Health System.
Neverthless, the splendid Health Profesdionals were able to hold the Fort.
Prachel you are an asset to ouf Country.
    Warm Regards, Albert

  5. Not just. Public transportation is affordable and entertainment too. A concert ticket is affordable, beaches are free, clean, beautiful, healthcare is affordable, meds are cheap, airfares/travel is cheap, and you really are never bored. I always laugh when I hear people say Portugal is boring!😅Now, I would step out of Lisbon and travel inland. Portugal's villages hinterland are historical and quite beautiful. The river beaches are prestine and beautiful, safe and the people are real sweet, and welcoming. If they stare, it's because you are a beautiful lady, but we are a simple country of kind people. I was born and grew up in Lisbon, and had an absolutely magical childhood in a city that was even more magical then, IMHO. When people back then disregarded Lisbon/ Portugal as provencial and backwards, I was my city/country fiercest defender. Far from being perfect, the potential of Portugal is absolutely staggering. Now that I am older, I know I was not wrong. Lose your fear and expand your comfort zone. Travel thru Portugal, you will see this is so. 🙏❤️🇵🇹❤️

  6. I loved how you talked about people’s faces lighting up. I wish I lived around more people who could just be present with others, and our authentic, sensitive selves. My parents were like this, and especially my father. I crave the ability to connect with people without 2nd guessing it. This was a beautiful video. Thank you! 💐

  7. Oh Prachel, I can't thank you enough! I needed this right now… I need it every minute of every day. I wish I could tell you what I need to say, but for now I just want to thank you and for now, I'll just wipe away my tears.

  8. Article 13 of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic:

    (Principle of equality)

    1. All citizens possess the same social dignity and are equal before the law.

    2. No one may be privileged, favoured, prejudiced, deprived of any right or exempted from any duty for

reasons of ancestry, sex, race, language, territory of origin, religion, political or ideological beliefs,

education, economic situation, social circumstances or sexual orientation.

  9. I really enjoy watching your content. I am a Portuguese who lives far from this land and who sometimes needs to listen to people like you to understand what he once chose to leave behind.

One day, I don't know which, I will return to the beloved land!

    Thanks and hugs

  10. The Hubby and I will be flying out to our new leased apartment in Porto come September. We are beyond excited. We are not at peace here in The States. We are not at our healthiest. We are anxious, stressed, and scared. We did all the research and chose Portugal due to the safety, Peace Index, quality of food, environment, rich history, opportunity for exploration, and a slower pace of life. We know no Country is "perfect" but anything has got to be better than the oncoming ulcers, strokes, and heart attacks we see arriving due to the stress and work culture we face daily here in The States. We are tired. We don't want to stay and fight. We have choices… and choose to spend our 3rd chapter of life with smiles, kind people, and ocean breezes.
    Great video! 👍
