This will TRULY improve our OFF-GRID living situation in North Portugal 💦🌭🥰 Outdoor kitchen & Shower

It’s crunch time!! In just 4 days, we’re moving into our self-built wooden cabin in North Portugal. Our Dream house is up since we’ve building non-stop for the past 55 days. But we’re waiting on the grid connections. So, means we’re prepping to go live off-grid and start a homestead in drought season. YIKES!

This week is all about raising our comfort level on-site and off-grid. Soon we’ll be finishing our dream home – but before, there is much off-grid prep to do. In this video, you’ll see us install a septic line, a toilet, trench the water line AND build an OUTDOOR KITCHEN and shower unit ✔️.

28 weeks ago, we bought an abandoned farm in Tras-os-montes, North Portugal, and we’re building our dream place with a public garden, an ice cream kiosk, and our dream house, optimized towards minimalist yet comfortable living.

We left the Rat trace for a simple life in North Portugal. And this is a slice of our dream and a new simple life. Follow us on Facebook:

  1. Sindy and Dan, sorry but after all my waffling on I did not mention the outdoor kitchen and shower, great job, also sindy good job finishing the channel for the water pipe, such a horrible job but very necessary.

  2. Hello Sindy and Dan, By now you must be "off grid dwellers". I hope everything is going okay for you both and the boyz of course. It is so exciting and interesting watching your dream become a reality. I hope you know that you give so much than just the pair of you building a house.
I know you don't expect all comments to be positive but I think the comments Carlos made this week are very mean and not true. I feel very sad and quite outraged. All of your dedicated followers (like me) know that you are both all about the building, of setting up your life in Portugal. You never ask for anything. You are good hard working people. I am so glad that you have made it possible for me to get to know you a little even if it is only by way of you tube. take some time now to slow down a little and take care.

  3. The outdoor kitchen/shower combo looks amazing and I’m sure you will use it for many years to come! Loved watching the four legged supervisors “helping” with the plumbing🤣🤣🤣🐶🐶❤️
Have a fab week guys, Laura 🍻🍻❤️

  4. Love your content, but especially the way you deliver it… So down to earth, kind'a camara shy, without those foolish "hollywoodesc" atempts that give a massive fake feel to it (unfortunatly like lots of youtubers do …) But hey, great improvments guys, been enjoying youre conquests since the begining of you're portuguese adventure… By the way, I've spoted the Alfa Romeo 156 "sportswagon" last episode and this one too, I've always loved it (especially the 1st model, AKA THAT ONE you've got) but in the 2.4 JTD lether camel interiors version but always conflict with myself about it, so… I humbelly have to ask, if it's not too much trouble if… could you show the car and talk about what made you choose that model (because they were not solde in Canada or the sates… I think…), pros and cons after use… it would just take you like 10 mins… I already think its a GPL adpted one because I think I've spoted the old GPL sticker on the back bumper, so it's a gasoline engine… 😉 Thanks a bounch, you keep those good and inspireing vibes going, I apreciate you guys… Best wishes from this northern portuguese liveing (for the time being) in St. Barth… 🙂 Content d'avoir écouté un peu de français aussi, ça m'a fait rigolais un tit peut… 😉

  5. The outside shower and kitchen is a brilliant design! You guys are so amazing! Your hard work and determination is so inspiring. I love to see what you are going to do next. It's so nice to see you treat each other with love and kindness. Love your dogs they are so cute and want to help you and be with you!🐕🦮

  6. Awe….the bed is heaven to lay on after such hard work !! So happy for you with the moving in SOON. Everything is looking fantastic and comfy.🤣💃👍👏. Looking forward to moving in day!

  7. Great idea of the outdoor kitchen/shower. Would not have thought about making it like that. That bed looks like it is to die for. Wondered if you were going to have to pry Dan off that bed to finish the build. Will you still film the days you will not be able to have cable? Hope so. Then you can up load it so we can see how you progressed. Enjoy your videos, can't wait until the next one comes out. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Great progress, Dan makes fitting a toilet look like childs play😂, a flushing toilet is a luxury off grid so enjoy your throne, the fiddle music nearly killed me, as I had a picture of you, both dancing a jig the first time you do the first flush 🤣🤣🤣
