Coimbra, in central Portugal is the country’s former capital. The city sees fewer tourists than the Lisbon, Porto or the Algarve. Visitor will see a medieval old town and historic University of Coimbra.
We also start our walk on the bank of the Mondego River. From there we enter the inner city with the garden “Largo da Portagem” and R. Ferreira Borges walking street with cafés and shops. We make a little detour via the Praça do Comércio before returning via the Igreja de São Tiago and seeing the main church Igreja de Santa Cruz.
The tour continues as we explore the narrow streets of the historic centre and eventually end up at the Botanical gardens.
We head further uphill and turn around after the prison to get back in to the city centre. The steeply stacked historic centre dates to Moorish times and is one highlight of Coimbra. We end up at the University of Coimbra at last enjoying the view over this city.
Note: there is a cut at 1:05:00 before going into the old town and up to the university

Your video is fantastic! Thank you very much for sharing your work, warm greetings from São Paulo, Brazil.
Great video! Such interesting architecture. Love how you always capture animals you come across! The cats 🐱 reminded me if your video of Malta 🇲🇹. Thanks!
Bella ciudad, pero repleta de graffitis vandálicos, degradación y abandono del casco histórico y donde lo viejo choca con lo antiguo no siempre armoniosamente. No obstante, venerable ciudad de la sabiduría.
Impressive, but so hilly.. Hard to walk very far without exhaustion.
Days
fogo, isto foi mesmo antes do covid…
estou a ver se vejo alguma cara conhecida!
Eu amo Coimbra…
I'm not sure how you walk on the cobbles wearing heels. 🤔
Thanks for the nice video.

Great video, I love how your walks give a real description of how a place is. Just a quick question if you don't mind. If you had to compare Porto and Coimbra, which one felt more vibrant for you ? I am looking to settle in an alternative place to Lisbon, and was not convinced by Porto unfortunately…
Great video! How could anyone possibly dislike it ?
Great video! Coimbra é maravilhosa. Gostaria de um vídeo das cidades do Norte, terra dos meus avós! Congrats!

Beautiful walk, Coimbra is a nice university city. Lots of art in it. Well above the average of the country’s cities. Good job.
