The summer heat has officially started! It hit 39 degrees Celsius this weekend! I fixed up our pool and dealt with some problems with our off grid water supply. Our awesome neighbour Joaquim makes an appearance with his trusty Ford Tractor and cuts all of the long dry grasses that pose a potential fire risk. This is going to be our third Summer in Portugal and we still absolutely love it out here! We are so lucky!
We are Ken & Gina. In 2019 we left the UK in search of a simpler life, away from our office jobs, and the hustle and bustle of the big city. We sold our house, drove to Portugal in a Motorhome, left the Rat race behind us, and bought a farm. We found an amazing property in Castelo Branco, Central Portugal where we have lived for the last 3 years. We make these videos for our friends and family, and as a record to look back on to see how far we have come. Lovely blue pool. How do you keep the water filtered?
We considered buying a property near Fundao but concerns about huge fly populations stopped it. There were fly markings all over the inside of the house. There were large populations of goat and sheep very close.

Your technique painting the pool looks great. I painted for 2 summers, and you look better than me however, mine was all indoors, lol.
Question? Fly trap fluid? Is it chicken safe directly from the drained out Bags? That would be a bonus for all the Annoying bits.

I would consider a mosquito canopy over and around the pool. Just to get some respite from the flies as you're trying to relax.

I'm wondering if you've thought about planting lavender? Flies, mosquitoes, ticks, ect all hate lavender. Maybe plant it around the pool and in Gina's garden.

Hi Ken and Gina it’s good the other dogs passed the test hope Nimo gets better,pool looks fantastic could do with sitting in it myself but our weather has been crazy cold thunderstorms and hot weather today actually took my jacket of for once.
That pool seems like it is a life saver in a Portugal summer!
